This is driving me crazy!! lol...how can I make purple buttercream and have it stay purple? Every time I make it, it always fades to a bluey color. I use wilton paste colors cause that is all thats available here. Someone please help me before I pull my hair out. I have a wedding cake to do this weekend and she wants the cupcakes iced in purple. I really need this to turn out. Thanks in advance icon_smile.gif

I believe someone had this similar problem on "Fabulous Cakes". The purple fondant she made was fading. She ended up airbrushing her fondant purple so that the color would stay.

Try adding a little bit of milk to your buttercream. It works for me.

Just add a little bit of milk to your icing and it will turn purple.

I think I remember reading in another thread to put 1 tsp of baking soda into your icing or fondant. But I could be wrong.
