Decorating A Cheesecake Like A Regular Cake?

Can you decorate a cheesecake with buttercream frosting? (i use crisco instead of butter) I want it to look like a regular decorated cake (i guess just a little shorter...can you layer the cakes too? putting one cheesecake on top of the other. I have some experience with decorating regular cakes but not cheese cake...how does the process go?
Unless someone knows more about this than I do, I don't think you can layer cheesecakes because of their soft consistency. I would imagine the bottom layer would collapse from the weight. Even if frozen I believe they would collapse under the weight once thawed.
I have never heard of layered cheesecakes. Forgive me if I am wrong.
yes you can! I have done it! There's a pic in my photos it the 2 tiered chocolate with green ribbon
I use a white chocolate creamcheese buttercream to frost and decorate my cheesecakes. I use the star tips to pipe borders and I have piped messages on them as well. I have not layered them, but I have made them in the 3 inch cake pans filled to the top so they had plenty of height.
Thank you Revel, I didn't know. Unfortunately I could not see your pics ... must be a computer glitch because it never stopped loading. But I will check for it again.
I did cheesecakes for a wedding and also frosted and decorated in regular buttercream. The late "cakelady" taught me to do this...so yummy.
