My husband and I have attempted several times the past few days to make poured sugar monogram. The sugar seems to turn out ok, (300-305 degrees) but so far our DIY ideas for "template/mold" hasvent been working out... we tried craft clay...basically melted and we have used foam board with the initial cut out... the board holds up to the heat... but the sugar doesnt release from the board without cracking this monogram...

Wedding is this weekend...guess we should have played with this sooner. Anyone have some inexpensive DIY ideas?

Thanks for your help!

Probably too late, but for future reference, you can use playdough as the outside of the mold. I didn't think it would work, but attempted to make a treble clef and a bass clef symbol for an upcoming cake. I put my design under a silicone baking mat so I could see the design. Then I took playdough and went around all the outside edges and any inside edges to get my designs. I made my poured sugar, and poured it into the "mold". It really worked!!! It didn't stick to the playdough or the silicone mat.
