I do not want to use the cricut for cakes...I just want to be able to make some nice cupcake wrappers. Does anybody do this using the cricut or any other machine? Are there programs for it? I've seen templates, but then I would have to cut them out myself and I am just too plain lazy (and busy) to do that for a large amount of wrappers. Plus I would really like to be able use some of the nice designs.
Any suggestions without breaking the bank?
Thanks!
oh oh oh!!! I just saw at walmart a whole line of new cartidges for cricut and one of them is nothing but cupcake wrappers!! I did a little happy dance right there!! Cant wait to buy it!
I think it was around $30.
Thanks. Has anybody used it yet? Is it good? I am trying to get a machine now as well without spending a lot of $$
Great. I just got the Personal Cricut (middle level) for $65. And I'll go and get the cartridge. Still, has anyone used that cartridge yet? I don't know ANYTHING about using this machine.
I bought the cartridge last week but havent had a chance to try it yet. Maybe this weekend..... Ill let you know!
I tried it and have already posted some pics in my gallery. Pretty cool!!! But I still want to know how to design my own using the cricut. And I am not having luck with all of the papers I am using.
I tried mine out for the first time last night. It seemed to take forever to cut out but using med speed and max cut it was pretty cool. I just used plain scrapbook paper but a little heavier might be better. I have to play some more!1

Your cupcake wrappers are beautiful! I just received my cupcake wrappers cartridge today, and I can't wait to try it. There are so many designs to choose from. I have the cricut cake machine, and I purchased the deep cut housing and blades, and the sticky cutting mat. I am just hoping that someone that has the cricut cake machine can tell me what they did to make the cuts. Speed, pressure that sort of thing.

What size did you cut them?
I had the large ones sized at 2" for the mini ones (that I will post soon) I sized them at 1 1/2". For the cardstock aper the pressure was at 5 and I think I had the speed at 4.
I don't think the levels would be any different for the cake cricut versus the other ones...but I am a total novice at this cricut machine.
On the "Sweet Treats" cartridge there is as cupcake holder also. You fold it to sit the pupcake - pupcake? not enough coffe yet!~ down into it, not wrap it around. I have used it before and it is very cute. I just got my new wrapper one and have not had a chance to use it yet. Am anxious to hear everyone's take on it.

So this cartridge worked on the midlevel one? Did you have to precut the paper to get it to fit? I think I looked at that one and it didn't take a full size sheet of paper. Am I right on that?
The regular cricket cost $399. And all I want to do is make the occasional cupcake wrapper. But at $65 I can justify getting one.
Thanks.
Yes, mine is the mid level one. I have used the big scrapbook paper and then just cut it in half. I admit it is a little annoying that it is small, but I REALLY don't NEED the bigger one (or so I keep telling myself). At this point, I am not making a lot of wrappers - but I can see an advatage to getting the bigger one (12 x 12 mat) and making multiple wrappers at the same time. I also used the mini scrapbook paper sets (I think it is like 4 x 6 or something like that) for the mini cupcake wrappers.
The downside is if I want to make a lot of wrappers with the same paper. I haven't figured out how I would be able to get enough of the same paper OR how much to charge for these.
Yippee! I'm running to my local WalMart after work to purchase the Lite Cupcake Wrapper cartridge. Just when you thought Friday couldn't get any better.............payday..........and leftover cupcakes in the office today!!!
Be sure to call your Walmart first - I know that a lot of stores don't have them anymore!!

Do a search for cupcake wrappers. You would not believe some of the prices. The more intricate the design the higher the price. Making them yourself, you are saving quite a bit of money!
For those wanting to make or alter cupcake wrappers there is a program you can dowload to your computer that will let you do that. There's actually two - Sure Cuts Alot or Make the Cut. If you download either program you can connect your cricut to your computer with a cord(sorry not the technical name) and as long as you have any cricut cartridge in your machine you can cut images you find off the net. Then you can search the internet for svg files(it's the type of file the program uses). I've found quite a few cupcake wrappers on the internet that you can download for free. I'll try to attach a picture of some princess cupcake wrappers I found. I needed a few of the wrappers for boys so I changed princess to prince and cut again.

Sorry can't add the picture it's too large. I'll try and put it in my photos
You can also buy relatively cheap cupcake wrappers from Koyal Wholesale for $9.98 for a 24 pack!

Hi Berkley
The cupcake wrappers are really nice and the prices are good for the plain
ones. The cricut cartridge cupcake wrappers are more like the laser cut wrappers.
berkeley- thanks for that site! Those wrappers are cute and inexpensive. It went into my favs as sometimes I do a hundred cuppies at a time and will not be cutting that many out w/ my cricut! I am glad to have that site for sure!
If this has already been talked about...please excuse. I picked up mine last weekend. Do you think they will come out with another one for more holidays. I only see a Witch for Halloween and Gifts that could be for Christmas and some Hearts and Stars. I know ...complain,complain,complain...I was just wondering.
OOOOHHHHH Mullett- I hope you are right! And yea- I always wnat more of a good thing too!
You never know! Although now that they have Martha Stewart on board I think it may be a very good possibility.
