This is my first fondant cake (I made a marshmellow fondant!) and probably my 5th cake I've ever decorated! I would love to take a course, but for now, it's internet tutorials and photos! icon_rolleyes.gif

This is a practice cake for my friend's little guy's 2nd bday in 2 weeks!
I need to get a fondant smoother (the store ran out, BOO!) and a turn table thingie. But so far, so good! I think it turned out pretty good for a first shot!

I'm going to have "Happy Birthday" and a big 2 on the top.

And some of the items the caterpillar ate!

What do you think?
Any tips that you can see (other than the lack of a smoother?!)

I think you did an EXCELLENT job on it! Keep up the terriffic work!! I am also a youtube leaner icon_smile.gif Everything I learn I learn it from this website and google icon_surprised.gif) ha!

Anyways- keep it up- all it takes is practice. I have only done about 4 or 5 cakes so far- check out my pics and keep up the wonderful work!

((Fondant smoothing just takes lots and lots of practice- I also work with MMF))

((make sure your butter cream - if thats what you use- is super smooth. ))

She said MMF won't work to cover a cake? Is she smokin crack or what? Yes it will work because there are thousands on this site that do just that. Make a small cake and try it to see.

Did she say why mmf wouldn't work? I think it works fine. Tons of people on here use it.

I am thinking maybe is because sometimes you find "sugar-lump" in the mmf. I am still gonna try covering cake with mmf though..cos the one by Wilton taste horrible it seems.
