let her buy it, unless you really want to add it to your collection of cake goodies

if you do ....

then buy whatever you want and charge a rental fee.

then continue to recoup cost by using for future cakes and charging a rental fee.

Yeah I have an idea

Get her or her hubby to be to build one. They can use a hot glue gun to "paint" scrolls on the cake stand, spray paint silver, and voila, a cheap cake stand. Stand can be whatever they want, simple or ornate, but they want cheap, they have to work for it

If she wants a "cheap" cake stand, then she can try to find one and pay for it herself. Tell her you don't stock "cheap" stands and you have no interest nor do you have any need to buy a "cheap" stand.

Hobby Lobby has a round one. Use a 40% off coupon and charge a rental fee.

Yes, cheatize is right. I bought one at Hobby Lobby and if you go at the right time you can find them for 50% off (on the wedding selections).

I agree with the Hobby Lobby suggestion. I purchased a 14 inch round plateau for $25 because there was a 1/2 price sale. Then I searched on-line and found that Lion's Deal had a 14 inch square for about $55 and there was free shipping for the month of June. Just a suggestion. If you want to have them, you can easily recoup your money with rental fees, and remember to get a deposit for the full amount, just in case they don't bring it back.

Do you have any cake supply stores in town? We have one and they rent their stands for 25.00 a weekend. If you can buy one for around the same price add it to the cost of the cake and keep the stand. Either way she would have to buy the stand or pay a rental and I don't think she will use it again.

Just tell her you asked around and that's usually an item that the bride provides, like a topper or the tablecloth for the cake table. Suggest that she look on Craigslist...she can probably find other brides selling theirs. I bought an 18" silverplate stand for $35 when I needed one last summer...turns out that it buckles in the center unless you put some kind of support under it.

The Hobby Lobby one is decent looking but kind of small.
