Where is the most inexpensive place to get cake dummies - I want to practice frosting - they are not going to be for display - just practice. Thanks.

I just got some from ebay. The ebay store is called thefoamstudiodotcom And you actually spell the "dotcom".... It's not ".com" Just to clarify.

I got a set of 5 4" dummies in sizes 6,8,10,12 and 14 for $17.49 with free shipping. I did quite a bit of comparison shopping as I always do to find the best deal and couldn't find anything to beat this. Another CC'er recommended Dallas Foam and they have good prices but the same thing I got would have cost almost $25 from Dallas Foam.

I haven't received the set in the mail yet (supposed to get here today) but I have messaged back and forth with the ebay seller and there communication is wonderful and it shipped out the same day. I can't wait to get them so I can get started

I went with the 4"-10" for my sets because they are just for photos for my website. It is VERY hard to tell what size a cake is in a photo, so it is basicly for the design.

In a pic you cant tell if a stacked cake is 12",10", 8", 6" or 10", 8", 6", 4"....
It is aslo easier to store and less materials to decorate.

The shipping was the same for 1 set or 2 so it made the second set only $5.45

Sorry for my ignorance but what do you do with the dummies? Do ye just decorate them to show off at wedding fairs etc?

If you are on the East Coast, I just ordered mine from guildcraft furniture on York, Pa. Dallas Foam would have been priced cheaper for the actual dummies, but shipping costs would have been $60alone, almost double the price! I got my order within 2 days, and customer service was great! I got over 20 pieces from 4" to 12" in round, square, star, sheet, and "paisley"/teardrop for about $80. Hope this helps!

that is such a good idea. ive been dying to make cakes that ive desingned in my head or seen in a book that ive been dying to try but ive had to wait for an occasion for friends birthdays etc as to its a sin to waist the cake.. very good im going to invest in some dummies..do you think your suppliers would ship to ireland???

dallas foam has great prices upfront but to ship to me in NH was way too expensive for my taste i think my order was right around $17 for the dummies but over $22 for shipping alone..... what gets me is their is some size to the box but zero weight to it... oh well going to try the place in York Pa. thanks megankennedy for the tip
