I need to buy a digital scale. If you use digital scales can you please tell me which one you have and do you recommend buying it?
Thank you in advance.
I have a Soehnle (sp?) and I like it. Goes up to 11lbs, does both metric and avoir. tare function...stainless steel
I have the XOXO scale. I think this is the one that got a preferred rating from Cook's Illustrated. It weighs up to 11 lbs., can go ounces or grams, has a tare button and the front of it can pull away from the scale so that you can use large bowls and still see the weight. I use that part a lot.
The downside is it is battery operated only. And it takes triple A batteries. I don't have these in my house as much as I do the double A (cause mostly everything we have in this house - computer mouse especially - run on double A). And it seems to be sensitive to other electrical current. I was measuring out powdered sugar on my counter and my DH had his cell phone plugged into the wall charging. The darn scale kept shutting off, the powdered sugar was flying in the air, and I was getting a shock touching the scale. Ever since then, all cell phone "stuff" (charger and phone) get moved whenever I use the scale.
Good luck, there are a lot of them out there. I love using a scale, so it is definitely worth getting one.
I am not sure what name brand I have, but I got it from Walmart. It measures in ounces, grams, pounds and has a tare function. It has a glass top to it, I am not sure how much it will weight but I know I have weighted 4 pounds of powdered sugar and not maxed it out. I even put my KA bowl on it and set the tare and weight out the shortening (2 pounds) for 4 batches of Wilton Class Buttercream.
