Hi would anyone know where i can get help to make a mobile phone out of gumpaste or modelling chocolate. can only find one on wilton website and its to childish as its for a 30th birthday cake. Any help be greatly appreciated. i am going to attempt my first 3 tier cake an friend wants mobile phone on top of it. Thanks

I would make the body out of RKT's and cover in some melted candy melts to smooth the surface. Then cover it in 50/50 fondant and gumpaste mix to complete the shape. You can print the icons that go on top, using a tiny brush you can paint what is on the keys. Mix your color with some vodka and it will write very easily. Brush the screen with some silver dust and vodka mix. There was a picture on here the other day but, sorry I don't remember who did it.

Print a top view edible image of the phone then print again on card stock for the template cut cookie dough to shape, bake onto lolly stick then decorate with edible image. The cookie will stand up on the cake and be totally edible (gum paste is not really edible). This is the fastest way to get a realistic looking cell phone, you can add some icing detail to the image to get some texture. Here is one I did I even added a text to the image with my graphic program.

Thanks very much for ur advice its great to have experienced decorators on hand to help with any questions this really is a fantastic site. i have now decided to ask my friend if she would like a sex in the city cake theme instead! seen a few on here i would like to try though im nervous about doin my first tiered cake so fingers cross all the advice i have read here works for me.

And if your laszy like me global sugar art has a pattern for one in there gumpaste cut out tools. I bought it but have yet to try it.
