Some of the recipes I have seen on here says to use heavy cream.
This might seem a dumb question, but I have not been baking long.
Is heavy cream just thick cream, I am from the UK and can not find heavy cream, just thick or extra thick cream.
Thanks for any advice icon_biggrin.gif

It's not super thick. I use it in my butter cream and some of my fillings. It is in our dairy section, with the half and half and flavored creamers.

I also use it when making gravies. HTH.

Double cream is what you'll want to look for in the UK. icon_smile.gif

It would be the same cream that you would use for whipping into a topping for strawberries. Heavy whipping cream would probably be the same as your extra thick cream and whipping cream would be similar to your thick cream.

unless, of course, your extra thick cream is sour cream then, no it wouldn't be the same.

oooooooooooooooh, nooooooooooooooo....I just seen an image of the extra thick cream. uh...nooooooo...that would be similar to uh...sweetened condensed milk. so, no that ain't the same as heavy cream.

like a PP said...you should be able to find it in the dairy section.

haha...pp is right, it's double cream. but that stuff in the can (I haven't seen that stuff here) appears to work the same way.

well...I just looked at the application on the above said stuff...it seems to used the same as that that is available in the dairy section...

Thank you all so much, I have been wondering about it for a while.
