I was wondering if anyone knew of KA mixers on sale? I just made my second batch of SS buttercream and once again my mixer is VERY angry.
I used the 6qt version as posted in the recipes here. The last time I made it I used the scraper blade and it was just too much drag on the machine.

This time I made it I used the reg blade but the machine still got VERY hot and now I hear weird "clanking" noises in the motor...maybe a gear about to blow?

Anyway, I have a huge wedding this weekend and am in the middle of cakes and frostings and would love to grab another mixer just to have on hand in case this one does blow up.
I have not read of anyone else having this problem...why does this happen to me???

I even put a huge ice pack on top of it when it was so hot to the touch.

Hopefully someone knows of local stores that might have a sale running? I checked Kohls and Sam's Club but nothing on sale there.

Try Target...when I bought mine it was on sale plus I got a $25 Target gift card. You could also try Lowes Hardware...a friend found hers there. The lucky dog actually found hers on the clearance isle (nothing wrong with it either).

I have Target on my "to do" list today so I will check there. I was at Lowe's yesterday and didn't even think to look there.

mine just did the same thing this week with 2 weddings. so i went to Kohls. they had it $100 off plus i had a 30% coupon. so it worked out well . it is still on sale in our area which is Illinois. hope it works out for you.,

I am going back to Lowes today to have a look. I did email Kitchenaid though just to let them know how unhappy I am about it.

They sell this machine for $500 and it pathetic if this is all it can handle. I bought their "top of the line" mixer thinking this would last a while. As a very part time baker you would expect more or at least I do.
