hi, i am making a 4 tier cake and was wondering if i can combine a box of pound cake mix with regular whitecake mix to make the bottom tear more strong and less moist. i am afraid that my cake will collapse, i know the dowels and carboard will hold it up but i am still nervous, any suggestions?

I used to mix a pound cake mix with a Duncan Hines mix and it did make it more firm...

Yes you can. But with the right support system you can use any cake.

That does sound like a great idea for a carved cake. Never thought of that. I use an enhanced recipe so if I added a pound cake mix with it, do I just follow the box directions for the pound cake if I mix them? Any suggestions? I have a carved cake coming up for Father's Day and would love to try this.
