What kind of airbrush is it? If it is the kind with a needle, make sure that it is installed correctly - if it is the kind with a nib make sure that you have the right size for what you want to do. Airbrushes work on a proximity factor - the closer you are to what you are brushing the smaller the dispersal of paint. If the paint is going all over the place try holding the airbrush closer to what you want to color and see if that works better.
When I was learning to use mine I bought a roll of paper towels that had a quilted grid pattern and practiced until I could paint the lines of the quilting - it is a cheap way to be able to practice.

If you have trouble with paint spatter, make sure that the airbrush is completely clean inside. I run either Everclear or vodka through mine because I`m allergic to the cleaning solution. You can get Everclear at the liquor store but you will have to ask for it as they keep it behind the counter. Don`t drink it - your tongue will be numb for hours icon_smile.gif
