How do you make the grooves on a fondant vinyl record?

i used a frosting scraper made by wilton, it is zigzagged on one side and grooves on the other. you hold it next to to side of the cake and it makes a design in the buttercream. you could also use a new hair comb. Just hold one end on the center and turn the cake to make concentric circles for the ridges. good luck!

I made two and they looked so real close up. I needed a new frying pan anyway and when I was looking I noticed the groves in the bottom of a T-fall large skillet were perfect! It even had the flat center circle. So rolled out some gum paste larger then what I needed and I corn floured my gum paste lightly and rubbed most away with my hand and evened it out. I place the rolled gum paste cornflour side down on the bottom of the cleaned new pan and I used a fondant smooth to lightly go over it. I flipped it over and could then find the center and cut a perfect circle the size I needed-which I traced with a plate and cut. I ran a Crisco greased finger around the edge to smooth it just like a record is. I made mine with black gum paste and then used luster dust to lightly dry brush across the surface of the groves to highlight the detail and give that reflection of light that vinyl records have.

So glad I read this post. I luckily have t-fal pans and the grooves on the bottom are actually perfect for making a vinyl record from sugarpaste! Thanks!
