I am doing hockey puck cupcakes and want a smooth black top so I can pipe the kids hockey numbers on the top. Not sure what kind of icing you would use?? Is it poured fondant... any recipes would be great!! Thanks
I have some cupcakes in my photos that have smooth fondant tops. I just iced them in buttercream and then using a cookie cutter, cut out circles of fondant and just placed them on top. Easy peasy.
that looks great. I want something i can do a couple days before and freeze.. or even the day before, so that my husband can take them to the hockey party, since I will be at a retreat all weekend.. you can't freeze fondant can you?
I have frozen fondant and slowly defrosted it and didn't have too much trouble. I have used a poured fondant recipe from Peggy Porchen where she adds a little corn syrup and melts the fondant some to dip the cupcakes into a few times to make them smooth and shiny.
thanks.. I will try that this weekend and see how it holds up to being frozen for a few days
I've done the method of microwaving canned icing then dipping the cupcakes in. They dry smooth and lovely.
