I was just wondering if anyone know how I can make store brought cookie dough chewy. Every time I make store brought cookies they come out crunchy, and I prefer chewy.

Baking time has a lot to do with that. The longer you bake them, the crunchier they are. It also helps to "make 'em cold, bake 'em hot." If you have well chilled dough bake that in a hot oven and that will help too.

don't bake them "until they're done". The heat from the baking pan will cntinue to bake them and even the heat from within themselves will cause them to bake for a few seconds more.

I had a friend ask me that years ago. She always marveled at how mine came out soft and hers were always hard. I told her she was baking them too long. She said, "I bake them according to directions!" and I said, "And how's that working for ya?"

(which reminds me, I gotta sue Dr. Phil for stealing my line!)

If you want really good chewy chocolate chip cookies, try Alton Brown's recipe. It is the favorite of both me and my hubby. This recipe is very easy. Maybe not quite as quick as place 'n bake or slice 'n bake, but the wonderful flavor and texture of homemade cookies is so vastly superior, it's worth the extra 10 minutes!
