Hi! I was wondering if anyone knew how they did the ridges around the cake (see below).

I wasn't sure if they carved it or if they form the fondant like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be that they formed the fondant that way. Seems like it would be a lot easier to do it that way as well.

Thats what I thought at first too and then my husband said that maybe they carved it, but they seem to little to be carved and look so perfect.

most likely fondant, i think if it was carved it could break off easy when they started to work with the fondant to cover all the points..but i dont know just my guess.....

looks like they could have put sausage like pieces of fondant on the cake first, and then covered with fondant, so it created this look. Thats what i would do, anyways =)

Or they could have made the ridges from RKTs. That's my new favorite medium to work in, and it would save cake (just likemaking them from fondant would).

I have this very cake to replicate in may and I plan on doing the fondant that way and not cut the cake into the shape.

Thanks so much for the help.

You guys had the same ideas as me. Except for the rice crispies treats! I think that sounds great!

Thanks again!
