My guess would be that they formed the fondant that way. Seems like it would be a lot easier to do it that way as well.
Thats what I thought at first too and then my husband said that maybe they carved it, but they seem to little to be carved and look so perfect.
most likely fondant, i think if it was carved it could break off easy when they started to work with the fondant to cover all the points..but i dont know just my guess.....

That's what I was thinking.
Or they could have made the ridges from RKTs. That's my new favorite medium to work in, and it would save cake (just likemaking them from fondant would).

I have this very cake to replicate in may and I plan on doing the fondant that way and not cut the cake into the shape.
