Cricut... Should I Wait?

Should I wait on the Cricut Cake to come out, or just go ahead and get one now. I know no one really has any experience with it since it's not out yet.... just curious if I should order one or just go ahead and buy one that is out now.
I would imagine that if you want your warranty to be honoured, you should wait for the cake cricut. My guess is that current ones on the market would have the warranties voided by using gumpaste with them. But I should stress that it is only my guess - I have no idea how the warranty works I just know that my friend and I aren't game to wreck ours if the warranty doesn't cover it.
I have a cricut already and this is the first I'm hearing of this. Did you find it online or something?
Personally I would wait for the Cake Cricket to arrive on the scene. I purchased the video for converting the regular Cricket for use with gumpaste and it requires removing a wheel in the center of the bar. My daughter gave me her Cricket to use and try on gumpaste but I really don't want to take a chance of ruining her machine so I am waiting for the new one.
Also, you do know about the other machine called the "Slice" right? It's smaller and is also making modification for use with gumpaste. I'm sure you can search this site for more info on it. I read a post here a few weeks ago about it.
Okay, after watching the videos on youtube of the cricut cake......I'm going to wait for it to come out. I'm actually thinking I may preorder one from scrapbookpal.com The price from them is $329.99 with free shipping. Not sure if I can wait though LOL 
I just got mine and bought the DVD from Linda. My suggestion don't wait get a good deal on an Expression now. As far as the wheels I didn't cut any of them. I mearly moved them out of the way. They are just little rubber wheels. I do both scrapbooking and cake designs. Works without a problem. Why pay more bucks for the Cake Cricut when it is not necessary.
The Cricut cake will not be out until May.
I'm not experienced with the cricut at all.......I know nothing! lol So I'm just not sure what I need to do. I just thought it may be easier for me to learn how to work one if it was already set up for gumpaste and fondant. I wish it would cut and color in the image......like a cutter and printer.

I Bought or pre ordered my Cake cricut from provo craft and I got $40 off with a coupon code that Tiggy2 told me about.
I just Saw on the HSN network that they will be selling the Cricut cake on HSN April 14th ...it may still take til may to receive though Im not sure but they may be offering easy pay and that would be helpful <3

I know the HSN is is having it on April 14th.
I just ordered mine from scrappersmusthaves.com for $299 as JudyDP mentioned this is the cheapest I have found it. I also ordered the cut mat 12x24 and elegant cakes cartridge and it all came to $363. The HSN package will come with this and icing sheets for $420 so this is the better deal unless you really want the icing sheets. Plus they give you free shipping as well.
I've been trying to decide what to do. I really need the Expressions for signage, etc for my shop, but would love one that would multi-task and do cakes as well. Does anyone know if the cake one will cut paper and vinyl as well?

Yes, you can do everything that the Expression or Personal will do on the Cricut Cake. If you haven't followed the other discussions, you MUST go to http://www.cuttingedgecakeart.com/. They have done extensive testing on both machines, and will show you the resulting cuts between the two. I am such a novice, and want to limit problems, therefore since I don't already have a machine, I think the best for me is the Cricut Cake, especially, since it can be bought for $300.00. Actually, I don't NEED either one, but would like to play with the Cricut Cake.

I would like to use the Cricut Cartridge_Stand & Salute with the cricut cake machine to make some cakes for husbands army unit. I was just wondering if they work or if I have to use just the cake cartridges that they came out with.

What? Why?? Is that just in the states?? There are no limits on our coupons up here...it says "40% off ANY ONE regular priced item" Why wouldn't you be able to use that??

I watched a video on youtube where a guy was doing a demo on one... he said all the other cricut cartridges will work with it. Hope this helps.

Bev....all cartridges work with all machines. The only thing that won't work, is the Cake cutting blade WILL NOT work with the other machines. The "deep cut" blade used on other machines prior to the Cricut Cake WILL work on the Cricut Cake. Once again, the blade (housing) made for the Cricut Cake WILL NOT work on the Expression or Personal machine. I suppose Provo did this so you would HAVE to buy the new machine, if you want to use the blade that does not clog easily.

YOU are certainly SMART enough to use it. I will say this....Unless a person is going to do lots of cake decorating, or doing scrolls, etc., this could be more of a "pain" than help. I think that if you are going to cut circle, etc. it would be easier to just use cutters. That's just my opinion, but I am not a pro. The good thing is that you can use it for other crafts, not just cake decorating. You can make cute boxes, cards, etc.
I hate to keep asking these ?'s but I just watched the demo for the new machine and they were using gumpaste will this work on fondant as well if it is rolled out thin like the gumpaste?

Fondarific & Chocopan did well with the Cake Cricut, but not the Expression. It pulled a lot with the Expression, and the blade clogged. MMF did NOT work well with either machine. As they stated, possibly another recipe would work, but their recipe did not. I don't know the recipe they used, but I'm guessing it's the MMF used mostly on this site.

I don't do a lot right now, but as I start getting more and more wedding orders... I'm thinking that it will come in handy for scrolls and damask.... I probably won't use it every day, but hey, if it makes life easier sometimes, I guess it will be worth the money????
Beverly, on the video I watched...he said you can use fondant, just to put it in the freezer so it will get hard.

Oh....I think you will love playing with it. And, if you are building your business, then you will have time to practice and get used to it. I know that some people want to "pull their hair out", because it's doing one thing or another....but, after they get it right....they are SO happy. I think it is just going to take practice, practice, but it will be fun! I was just trying to reassure you, just in case it didn't work for you the first couple of times....I have read you just need practice.
