I have been saving for a Cel Board and I am about ready to purchase one. I have been looking online at the selections and I am confused by all the variety. I want one something like I see on Tonedna's YouTube videos (icon_biggrin.gif- she is my "hero") but I can't seem to find one. Maybe the ones I see just aren't green or is there something else about it? What size do I need? What are the grooves used for? Why the heck are these things soooo expensive anyways icon_surprised.gif ? Thank you for helping me figure this all out!!!

White & Green = different brands (I like the white one, which is Celboard)

Ridges are for quick wire insertion into leaves, petals.

Roll paste on board, place cutter over ridge (centreing to where you wire will go.

They are NON stick

One of those things that people either lose or hate! - I love mine and think they are worth the money

I own the white ones, by CelCakes in both sizes. I love the large one. The smaller I take on trips with me, just because it's smaller. I couldn't find the green one, when I was buying them.

I wanted the green one.

My white ones, the mexican hat stuff, doesn't work so well for me. When I had the opportunity to use the green one for a couple of hours, everything worked right.

So please PM me, if you have a source for the green guy.

I have the large white/grey Cel Board and I love it.

You can roll out paste across the grooves, turn the paste over on the non grooved side, cut out a petal or leaf, and have a "spine" into which you insert the floral wire.

As for the small holes in one corner, they're not really deep enough for making "mexican hat" based flowers. It's better to use the holes (on the "hard" side) of the yellow Cel pad. Just crisco around the hole a bit and roll the paste over it, pull it out, and your ready to go.

To make the grooves deeper, go to your local hardware store and buy a small triangular file and a sheet of 1500 grit aluminum oxide polishing paper.

You need to use new items so that you don't carry any workshop contamination.

Wash the file with soap and water and dry it immediately.  Then file each groove by moving one long edge of the file back and forth along the length of the groove. File away until they are as deep as you like (you can make them different depths).  To polish, lay the paper grit side down and use the file again to push it into the grooves to smooth them out.
