Decorating By KathysCC Updated 29 Apr 2010 , 5:28pm by felin
My parents had two house fires by the time I was 14. The loss of our things can be devastating and the idea of starting over isn't ideal, but things can be replaced and your talented wasn't scarred. Be assured by the small blessings that are, and know that you will get thru the bad things that are just temporary.
This is terrible! I just loved watching them on the cake shows. I hope they come back better than ever.
so glad nobody was hurt, my thoughts and prayers are with you!! {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}}
What a devastating loss........but you are all OK. You are such talented cake artists and an inspiration to so many of us on CC. With all the support from friends, family and other cake artist...you will get through this and it will be all for the better........
Mary and Brenda, you are an inspiration to so many of us! Things may seem rough right now, but keep your heads up. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. This just gives you the opportunity to build a bigger, better cake shop! Keep on doing the great work that you do, and everything else will fall into place. We all love you and will be thinking about you in these rough times.
I am so sorry that this happened. But you are the best and will continue to be the best. Prayers and hugs your way.
May the outpouring of support and prayers and the love of God comfort you and give you strength through these hardest of times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you today and over the months ahead as you rebuild.
Wow. I hope some is salvageable. The pictures of the aftermath on this news story give a little hope that maybe they can take something away. http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/2128458,north-side-bakery-fire-032910.article
The picture of the two of them is so sad.
You'll be on top again in no time, Cake Girls! Just think of the phoenix, reborn and rising from the ashes! I'll buy a shirt as soon as you're back in business!
I am so so sorry to hear of this. I am keeping both of you, your employees and family in my prayers. God Bless you
In my prayers you will stay, as the families that are employees. Be strong and have the faith, you will get through this, with God all things are possible.
You had Determination in putting your business together, dig deep into yourself and move forward! Maybe bakers in the surrounding area can lend you there kitchens on a partime bases to help get some of those orders out.
As just human nature, I would think, that this world is still like the old times, and we help each other .....if I could, I know i would help...Im just me a hobby baker.
*hugs*....but my shoulder is here for you. I will be prayering and watching.
To Mary and Brenda, this is a devastating loss, just know that you guys will come through this with more than what you had before. Your business will be bigger and a newer bigger facility than the one you lost. Our thoughts and prayers will daily be for you all. I'm a Chicago area hobby baker! Be of good courage.

I am very sad to hear about what happened to your place of business. Ladies, keep your chins up. I always think things happen for a reason, so maybe bigger and better things are to come your way. I wish you both the very best!
I'm so sorry for your loss, I totally understand what you are going thru. My parents home was a total loss in a fire several years ago. It so devistating, everything you worked so hard for, all gone in an instant. I know you will rebuild and become bigger and stronger, I can tell by your spirit, you guys are strong ladies. I just wanted to say you are in our prayers, and feel so sorry this happened to you.
I am so sorry that this happened to you guys. But I am happy that no one was hurt. Luckily you still have each other and you will make it through this. our thoughts and hearts are with you.
Mary and Brenda,
I'm so sorry for your terrible loss and disappointment and relieved that everyone is physically safe. I pray that the same grit and determination that built your business from nothing will carry you now through this horrible ordeal.
Please accept these words of encouragement....
When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you mustbut dont you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won if hed stuck it out.
Dont give up, though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup,
And he learned too late, when the night slipped
down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are.
It may be near when it seems afar.
So stick to the fight when youre hardest hit,
It's when things go wrong
That you mustn't quit. Unknown
God bless you both.
How very sad.....we all know how we would feel if this happened to us. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Jennifer
Mary and Brenda I am so sorry for your loss. You do amazing work and I am sure that you will recover and continue on to a bright future. Cake is in your blood. I am a believer that all things happen for a reason even though it may not seem like it at this time. It is nice to see all of the support from your fellow cakers here on cake central and from what I have seen on the news, the local bakers are being very supportive. Bless you guys.
So incredibly sad. They both seem like such strong women, I know they will come back full force! That which doesn't kill us, only makes us stronger. Everything in life happens for a reason. My thoughts and prayers are with them <3
Mary and Brenda - I am a huge fan of your work and always cheer for you on the cake challenges! I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I love Mary and Brenda Work!! They really got the girl power!!! This is heartbreaking. All my support and I prey for them. I know they will come back stronger than ever!!!! GO GIRLS!!!
The loss of your shop must feel like you have lost your soul, but remember it was just a building, it was just material things that you lost. You did not loose your talent, or your love of creating, you did not loose each other.
I never knew a night so black that love failed to find a crack
I never knew a storm so drear that the clouds would mot clear
I never knew a sky so gray that I could not laugh again some day
