I saw a video on youtube that showed me how to make fondant out of mini marshmallows, a lil water, powdered sugar and crisco shortening.... has anyone else tried this? I will be trying it out in a couple of weeks, testing it out for my own wedding cake...BEFORE I make my own cake, that is. lol.
But if anyone else knows if this doesn't work...it'd be awesome to know!

Thanks!

Yes, the marshmellow fondant works well. I've made it many times and it always turns out well. And it tastes good, also.

I make it all the time. If you look in my photos, all the fondant I've used is marshmallow fondant.

I only use marshmallow fondant. It's amazing and also works great for modeling figures.

- I omit the water because I find that it makes it very sticky.
- Don't forget to add flavor...anything goes - vanilla, almond, lemon extract...whatever you like.
- In my opinion Kraft brand is much less sweet than others.
- You don't have to knead on a table or countertop (too messy)...add the powdered sugar to the same big bowl you've melted the MM's in, then put the bowl in your empty sink and dig in. I actually hold the bowl w/ one hand and knead w/ the other (in the sink).

Is this the same recipe as the cookie MMF? I've just started a very basic cake dec. course and would like to try the fondant on it.
Thanks

The recipe that I use has 2lbs powdered sugar, 1lb marshmallows, 1/4 cup water and then crisco to grease work surface and hands (or bowl and dough hook if using the KA).

It works on cakes and cookies...tastes wonderful on cookies actually icon_biggrin.gif
