I have to make gold lettering on red cookies. I need help with the gold tone. I have 24 karat gold dust that I tried brushing with vodka. Looks bad. I have so many to make for my neice's birthday party.

Anyone has any ideas. You guys are experts in this, I bet you have the answers. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help. icon_cry.gif

are you using fondant or modeling chocolate cut out letters? if so, then the easiest thing to do is to use gold luster dust.

with modeling chocolate, just dry brush it on and it sticks (see the leaves on my recent plaid pears). couldn't be easier and the dust really sticks to the chocolate.

if fondant, then the easiest thing is to use the canned spray luster dust (LOVE that stuff), then attach them to cookie.

conversely, you can paint them gold with vodka or lemon extract mixed with the dust but i like the effect of the spray.

You can mix metallic dusts with a little white vegetable fat (crisco in the US?) and brush it on.

omg, it's great stuff, lol.
i have the gold and the pearl, but it also comes in red, silver, and i think a couple other colors.

i think it's a PME product (i am away from my "stuff" at the moment) but it can be purchased at just about all the major cake sites plus ebay. i have purchased it before from ebay cake/cookie store rezzytreats and she has low costs and shipping. i hate paying $7.00 shipping on a $10.00 can of spray...

i love this stuff.

Thank you all for the inputs. I was so busy with the painting of gold dust with vodka that I felt I couldn't do anything else. They turned out good, but I'm just a little cross-eyed after two days of painting.
