Last night I carved two my my tiers for my first topsy turvy cake. One was the top (4 inches on top, 3 inches on bottom) and the other the middle (6 inches on top, 5 inches on bottom). I put them both on top of my little freezer in my kitchen. This morning, when I came downstairs, my top tier was gone! I actually thought for a slight moment that someone came in during the night and stole it! But then dread hit me...... I looked behind the freezer, and lo and behold, there it was. =( It was wrapped well, and so the cake was protected, but it was deformed. I re-carved it a little, but I think I'll have to rely on the frosting to make it look better. If it doesn't work, I'll need to re-do them. =( The cake is for a church activity I'm going to Friday night. I'm donating it, and expecting to have only the bottom tier eaten. (Only about 6 couples going to be there.) But now I know. Tall and skinny needs protection while settling or else it might decide to go sky diving.

Sounds like someone opened the freezer lid without thinking to move the cake. That would happen at my house. So you really think the cake leaned over and fell off... wow. It must have been a real top heavy. Good luck finishing it up.

LoL. Yeah, I was the last one to go to bed and the first one up. =\\ I think while settling, it leaned just the little bit and since the top was bigger than the bottom, took a dive. I shouldn't have had it anywhere near the side of the freeze, but in the middle. Things you just don't think of....

And thank you for the luck...I'm pretty sure I'll need it! =)

The first thing i would have done is hunt down DH. He is my resident cake destroyer. He is like a shark...a tiny amount of cake in the air..and he is in a cake frenzy. I always have to make a small cake just for him when I am baking.

I am glad you found it and was able to salvage it. I bet it will look great. lots of luck and happy caking.

He He. That's cute/funny! =)

Unfortunately due to it's damage, the poor thing couldn't handle any frosting....so I had to redo it.
But the second time was a charm (and I stuck a dowel down it this time and kept it safe from edges!) =)

I've attached the final image. Yay! It's done!
