I know this has been asked many times but I can't seem to bring it up on a search. Can someone please tell me how much tylose powder to add to fondant to make roses that will harden like gumpaste? We are in the middle of a snow storm and I can't get out to buy more gumpaste. Thanks very much!

I normally sprinkle a good amount on the counter and use a small amount of fondant. I just work it into the fondant until is feels a bit stiff. This always works for me. I just made a pair of baby shoes using this method and they were hard within 2 hours. HTH

Ron Ben-Israel demonstrates turning Satin Ice fondant into gumpaste on the Satin Ice site [www.rolledfondant.com Look for the giant rose video]. I believe he used a teaspoon to about 1/2 pound Satin Ice....should be about the same with other brands, but you might want to experiment with the ratio some.
