By the way, thanks for the great looking recipes.) include coffee in the recipe and sometimes quite a lot. I know I can just leave out coffee granules, but a cup or two of liquid coffee???? How do I compensate? Do you actually taste the coffee in the cake? Would I tatse it because I'm so sensitive to it? Help!
If you *really* don't like the coffee in it (try it first with it in there) you can sub hot water for freshly brewed coffee or just plain water for cold coffee. But, of course, the taste won't be as rich.

FACSlady, I don't drink coffee either, and I have recipes for chocolate cake that have coffee in them. I can't taste it at all, so I don't think you need to worry. I think coffee is heinous, so I'd definitely notice it if was noticeable.

I don't drink coffee on religious principles, so I will not put it in my cakes. I've substituted hot chocolate instead of coffee in chocolate cake recipes. I think it tasted great!
You can also use a good stout in place of the coffee, but you will taste that a teeny bit.
I am not a coffee lover, and I put coffee in my chocolate cake and you will taste a difference without it, but it won't be a coffee taste.

I'm not a beer drinker, either, but I can eat an entire chocolate guinness cake by myself!
Oh yes... me too. I use a whole pint in the recipe I have. It's wicked awesome!! You can make guiness buttercream too... put that in a guiness chocolate cake... to die for!

Just out of sheer curiosity and nothing more (mod edited for content)? Or is it a personal thing? I've just never heard that before and I'm curious. Feel free to pm me if you don't want to put it say it on here...or ignore me if it's none of my bees wax.
(mod edited) don't drink caffeine, so that might be it. It's the caffeine that some religions don't use since it's a stimulant.
I've heard of it before; some (mod edited for content) groups don't allow coffee drinking.
I would like to know why a list of religions who do not allow caffeine was deleted. There was nothing nasty about it. Are we no longer allowed to mention any denominations?
I grew up in a house with no caffiene, due to religious beliefs. No chocolate, coffee, pop, or anything. Also no meat, alcohol, make-up, jewelry, playing cards....the list was endless!
