I know I've asked this before, but it was probably two years ago and I can't find the previous post, so here goes...VALENTINE COOKIE IDEAS for elementary kids. My kids pass out cookies for Valentines to their classmates. Last time my son took fish cookies with cards attached that said "hooked on you valentine" (or something to that effect), my daughters were teddy bears that said something along the line of "Valentine, I like you beary much". So I need 2 new, cute ideas. Any suggestions? Oh, yeah...I've also done bumblebee's with cards that said "Bee my valentine" (those are in my photos).
I'm looking for ideas for my son's preschool class. I'll be interested in the replies! I have seen rectangle cookies that are decorated like envelopes that have the recipients name written on them but your ideas are really cute!
conversation hearts are always cute (then you can do a variety of sayings)
here are some I did for my son's class way back when lol I just wrote on them with an edible marker. Simple and easy, but all the kids felt really special knowing that each cookie was made JUST for them and that it wasn't exactlly the same as everyone else's.
Teacher's usually print out a paper with all the kids names on them for you anyhow to fill out your Valentine's
What about frogs with something like 'HOPPY Valentine's Day!"
(now you have me thinking..... I'll be back...
lol!
Okay..the frog idea is cute. "Hoppy Valentines" I like it!
The fish ones that I did went over really well. And I like it when you can do something a little different.
The conversation hearts are always cute, and kids love anything with thier name on it! When my son was in young5s he took cookies with the kids names on them and they loved them!
Good ideas so far...lets keep em coming
Ok, here's another: "You make my heart flutter!" - butterflies.
Or 'You make me wild!" with tiger or another wild animal...
Owls: You're a hoot!
"Whale you be mine?"
"I'm bananas over you!" (Monkey or bananas)
"You're wand-erful!" (magic wands - easy - star on lolli stick)
"You're the triceraTOPS!" (dinosaur)
"Be my friend-a-saurus!"
(Can you tell I can get OCD about this stuff? lol!!! So fun!)
HTH! Good luck! Now I'm off to sulk about how I can't send cookies in with my son for his class...stupid school policy... Oh well!
KHalstead-The writing on your cookies is amazing.
I think this year for my daughter (Kinder), I'm going to do hearts. I like the idea of writing their names on the hearts.
Look at any of the kids packages of valentine cards they always have corny little sayings on them. Or you could just do pretty hearts or whatever shape you like and say "valentine, you're one sweet cookie" or "to a sweet cookie on valentine's day"
I too have been wondering what to do this year for my girl's classes. Hoppy can also be used with bunnies.
"You make my heart soar" or "you're so tweet"- bird
"I'm nuts for you"-squirrel
"You're a purrrfect Valentine"- kitten
"You're a doggone good friend"- dog
"You light up my life"- sun or light bulb
Some other "animals to maybe spark some ideas snail, shark, giraffe, elephant, horse, goat, pig, octopus, seahorse
*not for kids but a cow that says "you're udderly special"
Can you tell what I'm doing while getting my oil changed?

I'll have you know I checked the JR College to see if they still had mini classes for caligraphy... they dont!
OP, great job starting this thread, loving all these ideas. I've done strawberry cookies dipped and not dipped with " I like/love u Berry much. And the envelope cookie with " Sealed with a kiss". Not sure if those are really kid friendly tho??
djs328 - sorry to hear you can't send treats in to the school. I hear that is becoming more and more common. As a mom with kids who have severe food allergies, I can understand why they do that. And then some of the horror stories we've heard regarding homemade treats that were brought to school...you can see their point. But like most things...a few bad eggs ruin it for the rest. I am thankful we are still allowed to bring homemade goodies, as long as they are peanut/nut free.
There are so many great ideas here. Now to chose a couple. I am going to have to make a trip to the cake store and check out the cookie cutters...I love any excuse to buy new cutters
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I hear that. I'm from Texas and my older sister lives in Harlingen. A couple years back a mother sent some brownies with her son for the teacher. This mother was mad at the teacher for what ever reason. Well the teacher ate some, and shared with other teachers. Within an hour about 6 Kinder teachers were all high!!! Yup them brownies were a little to home made! Ever since then everything has to be store bought.

OMG - seriously? That is awful.....but as a former teacher, I'd be leery of baked good from a dissatisfied parent...
I totally understand why they have these rules in place (allergies, health dept. issues, etc.) but what frustrates me is that we CAN send in items from local bakeries, (no ingredients listed) and the bakeries do not claim to be nut free...makes me so mad...but, it is what it is... rumor has it in a couple of years no food will be allowed to be sent in - not even store bought...Too bad for the kids...
Off to make a cake!
I was in the dollar store the other day and there were high school musical cards that said something along the line of "Have a ball this Valentines".That would work for any sport.
I think my daughter is going with butterfly's..."Valentine you make my heart flutter". my son is going with lions "Valentine you make me wild"
Can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with.
looking at online valentines, and got a few more ideas, sorry if any of these are repeats
a car and the card says "Valentine, i never tire of you"
bunny..."some bunny loves you"
owl..."i'll owl-ways be your friend"
caterpillar..."be my love bug"
plane..."you're plane awesome"
candy..."you can count on me when things get sticky"
running out of time to decide. there are a lot of good ones here.
