Yep in fact I just bought one yesterday. I'm a hobby baker and can't justify ML and honestly have been happy with my Wilton Decorator Preferred pans. I can't see how they could be improved. Bakes evenly, heavy (remember Wilton has 4 types of pans and 2 Decorator Preferred). Now I haven't tried ML and don't see it happening for me BUT if I were a pro and was just setting out to buy pans for a business I'd go ML just because of the reviews. I'll soon know how the Fat Daddio's bake. It was a big plus not to have to pay shipping and to actually hold one in my hand. I got the big sheet cake FD pan.

Hobby baker or professional.... good equipment is necessary for a good end product.

I don't understand why folks whine about Magic line being just sooooo expensive. They're not. Sure, they cost more than that generic eight-inch pan you can buy at the grocery store in the cookware aisle, but, really, you get what you pay for.

Hobby baker that does everything free and has to watch their $ is also important BUT there are things that do make a big difference and are worth springing for, for me, it's not a pan because the others are totally satisfactory. If I give someone a cake they complain that the crust is a tiny bit brown, well they won't get another one..lol..Honestly I've had good result with the Wilton Decorator Preferred pans. Even the ones that are flared cooked well, just had to trim them up which is why I bought the other ones since then. I line with parchment so sticking isn't a issue and they cook evenly (aluminum is aluminum/anondized(?) or not, thickness is what makes the difference as far as cooking and for some corners are a concern, for me, it's not)...so...Can't justify spending more....I think a good professional baker could cook in a lasagne pan and end up with a good result with a little work. But that's not me unfortunately...lol...If ML pans were local and no shipping on top of the price, yes I'd buy some sizes that I don't have....but as it is I just can't justify it..I give my cakes away.

FYI the Fat daddios at Home goods are cheaper than I've seen them online BEFORE shipping. Thanks to a CC'er who posted about them before!

Now I'm bummed. I just replaced my horrible DENTED Wilton 8" rounds with Fat Daddios. I got them in the mail on Friday and they look and feel just like Wilton. Please tell me I didn't waste my money.

I looooove Magic Line pans! The only reason I didn't get them is because I was ordering from GSA and they only sell FD. icon_cry.gif

Lori, can't you return them if you're not happy with them? I know it means extra hassle and wasted time in the turn-around, but if you're not satisfied...

I'll have to check on the return policy for GSA.

This means I will have to order ML from Country Kitchens and I am mad at them.....

I'll check Amazon, but the last time I bought cake supplies from there they came from Country Kitchens.

I used to really like Country Kitchens, but they have messed my order up several times in the past year, and never offered to give me a discount or make amends for their mistakes. The last time I ordered from them, I put my order in on the internet during the weekend, and they called me on TUESDAY afternoon saying they didn't have some of the stuff and hadn't mailed my order yet. Obviously it really irritated me and I vowed to order from somewhere else.

I wonder if their management has changed in the past year. Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox now!!

Perhaps you can order directly from the source?

Lori... I have FD pans and they work just fine. I bake at a lower temp anyway, and I have never had a problem icing them square and the rounds are just perfect to work with. If you need them right away and can't wait to send them back for the ML pans it sounds like you want, you won't have ruined cakes due to the FD pans. icon_smile.gif

There is no website, but I called and spoke with the receptionist. You can order ML pans straight from them. There is a $50 minimun or you pay a $5 service charge.

I asked her the price of an 8" round/2" height pan and it is $5.50.

The price from CKSA is actually $4.95. Weird.

Looks like I'm gonna have to swallow my pride or cruise ebay!

Honestly, $5.50 for an 8" pan of that quality really isn't expensive.

The only thing about ordering off ebay is usually you'll pay about 10.00 shipping PER pan. I just can't pay more in shipping than I do for an item...it goes against my grain.

$5.50 is a good price, it's the same as a wilton with a 40% off coupon it's just the shipping that is killer. But if you are ordering more than 1 pan from the same place perhaps it will justify the cost as they won't charge 10.00 per pan.

I order roughly half my supplies from CK (the wholesale division of Country Kitchens.) Although they are not the fastest shipped, I've never found the customer service to be lacking. The phone person even went out in the warehouse to check on something for me. And when I forget to order something, many times, they've found my order and added something to the box.

Honestly, I used to love them. I ordered from no one but them until I started using the SPS stuff. These problems just started happening to me last summer. They had some cake boards labeled with the wrong item number in their catalog and they kept sending me the wrong size, but never offered to reimburse me. Also I used to order on Mondays and get my stuff on Thursday, but now it seems to take a week.

They are very helpful with questions, so I'm wondering if it's just staff turnover or something.

So far I have no complaints with GSA. They get the orders out superfast and have been very helpful with questions.

I have several magic lines pans and I love them all! I bought a set of Fat Daddios and I hate the way the crust comes out and dark.

Anyone have problems with their 3" Magic Line pans taking forever to bake? I always bake my cakes (box mix) at 325 and they can take up to over an hour to bake! Any one else have this problem? Suggestions? I tried turning the heat up to 350 but when I cut it to serve it started crumbling, so I figured I had baked it too long. Any tips would be great!
