How Long Can I Make Gingerbread In Advance

Hi all, I wanted to make little ginger bread houses for friends but im not sure how far in advance i can make them and package them? can anyone help
Is it going to be for display purposes or will it be eaten?
With competitions, many people start making houses months before. I recall that this one lady spent more than 600 hours creating her gingerbread house.
I would actually like to eat them....was thinking about doing mini ones as gifts. Is it too early to start?
Hmm, I would say, I would go with a maximum of 6 days--that is just me though. Make sure you cover it though so you don't get any dust.
Just how long do you suppose the gingerbread house kits that Wilton puts out every year are made in advance? I would imagine that they are months old and are supposed to be edible.
good point....though i imagine they pack the preservatives in there!!! i might start a test one tomorrow and let you know when it starts to go stale
