Acd & Mbn Magazines - Late Or No Delivery???
Decorating By nanny4 Updated 9 Dec 2009 , 8:18pm by MrsNancyB1
Has anyone else experienced nearly constant late or even no delivery of the American Cake Decorating & Mail Box news magazines? This has happened not only to me but several of my cake decorating friends in the past few months. The latest instance I contacted customer service @ ACD starting in in October and the last response was they are now completely out and will extend my subscription. I love these publications but it seems they really have a problem internally somewhere. I finally got my last issue of Mail Box News but it took 3 emails & they finally "found" an issue to send. I have been a subscriber since 2004 too. My last email to them advised I plan on subscribing to Cake Central's new magazine.
I'm so accustomed to their tardiness that I find myself surprised when I received the magazine!
I'm definitely NOT renewing my subscription but switching to CC magazine instead.
Would you ever guess I got an email from ACD & MBN wanting to offer me a subscription with a 40% discount and in reality my subscription is paid up till April 2011?? Interesting since myself & others can't even get the current issues
I'm so glad you posted this, I hadn't even realised that I haven't gotten one in at least a month or two or three. Guess I better go home and check the date on my last issue! Thanks!!
Late or no delivery with ACD & MNews has been a problem for ever. I actually had to send ACD a photograph I took of my credit card statement to show them I'd paid for a 2 yr subscription. Whenever I called and asked why I'd not gotten my first issue, they'd say we have no record of you subscribing.
It got settled once they saw my photo showing I did pay, but after that every issue was a month or more late or it did not show up at all.
I finally gave up on them. Got tired of calling and getting lame exuses as to why they were behind yet again..
I got tired of my magazine being late all the time and have no plans to renew my subscribtion. CC magazine offer came just in time for me.And one of my relatives going to subscribe me as a christmas gift.I am very excited!
THANK YOU! thanks so much for posting this! I thought I was going nuts! I couldn't believe I got a renewal notice in the mail the other day, I was like "How can I have to renew it already when I only got 2 issues this year?!" Total rip off. Get your stuff together people.
Just went to their website to e-mail them since I, too, haven't received a magazine in months. According to their site, the December issue went out Dec. 12, and they are "sorry for the delay." I'm pretty patient, but this really has gotten silly. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed and keep checking my mail . . .
Thanks for this! I, too, was wondering what in the world was going on. I thought my DH must have been hiding them or thinking it was just more cake catalogs. I have called and had my subscription extented but that just seems to prolong the hassle of never getting it!
Same problem. I am also glad there is a new cake decorating magazine coming, can't wait !
I actually had my payment returned to me because the envelope ACD provided to me to use for that purpose had the incorrect address printed on it. Post Office returned to sender. ggggrrrrr. Still waiting on my first issue. After reading all of your posts, I'm really hoping I will get my magazines as I have paid for them.
This really strikes a nerve. I even mentioned this in a previous post and I was told I needed to give "them" time. Well, I did and still did not get many of my issues. I "sent" them a message by not subscribing anymore. Perhaps everybody else can follow suit. I am done getting ripped off!
I totally agree Zurmarie! The subscription is very expensive and I really expect to get the product I've ordered on time and the number of issues I paid for. I'm so not gonna sit around and wait for them to ship when it's convenient for them to get them done. And run out????? That's ridiculous. You know how many subscriptions you have (or you should) so there is no excuse for running out of the issues. Since I'm waiting for my first issue, I will give this a couple of months...after that, my behind will be on the phone with someone at ACD trying to keep the top of my head from exploding. lol Had I known these issues upfront, I probably would not have subscribed. Sounds like I will be the next CC'r to subscribe to the new mag coming soon!
I just checked what I received since 2006 (I am subscribing to American Cake Decorating) looks like I am missing quite a few!
How many issues we suppose to receive per year?
2006 I have the total of 4;
2007 total of 6;
2008 - total of 5;
2009 total of 4
I never had time to actually follow up on the missing/late delivery problems, it is a wonderful magazine, but I will not subscribe to it anymore...
I sent an email to customer service asking where the Oct/Nov/Dec issue was, they said was expected to be to me by Dec 29. I don't understand how a big magazine company can have such a problem getting their magazines out on time. It kind of defeats the purpose of getting xmas and fall ideas when the season is over.
I've subscribed since ACD started with the Harts, since Grace publishing took over the issues have been very very late. I love the magazine but they really need to get their act together or they will be out of business.
I subscribed to ACD with their % off of a year subscribtion. In the email I received from them it said to wait 48 hrs before signing in. That was on Nov 11. It's been almost a month, I STILL CAN NOT sign in to check on my subscription. I emailed them, and the reply I received was that my order was processing. Where.....a third world country that doesn't have electricity???? So annoying, so wanted this subscription but looks like I was taken for a ride. Now I wonder how hard it's going to be to get a refund.
I appreciate this post too, because I was actually considering to start a subscription with MBN. Guess, that won't be happening.
Has anyone considered contacting the BBB about this? I mean, if you pay for a service, you should receive it. This definitely doesn't seem like a good business practice at all.
