Im going to be making The Princess Address Castle Cake, I bought the set for it already, but I had some questions. Im supposed to be putting the towers down through the cakes, but how do i do that if I put the cake plate between the cakes & also the wooden dowels in the bottom tier, so how would I do that? Also according to the directions, it says to use candy melts to attach plastic dowel rods to base, are the candy melts really necessary, can i just use royal icing? Here is the link to the directions incase you wana look at it...http://www.wilton.com/idea/The-Princess-Address thank you for your help

You don't put the turrets down far enough to get to a base. They just go in an inch or two. I carve out a little hole for them and use candy melts to help them stay in place. I also use candy melts to keep the side turrets upright. You may be able to use RI, but candy melts dry quicker and have never given me any problems with this kit.
