my "cake" is falling apart. I couldn't get it out of the pan and then when it came out it broke and I scraped out the cake from the bottom of the pan and I tried to mash it on there and I can't save it and I used this odd vanilla on one batch of my 6 batches of buttercream but its overpowering them all and I don't think it's good but maybe I'm just tired but the cake is for my grandparents anniversary tomorrow and I don't know how or even if I can save this....I just want to curl up in a ball and cry
Can you take a couple of batches of the butter cream and mix them with the one that is overpowering? Maybe that would help tone it down a bit. Is the cake layered or a sheet cake. I would put it back together as best I could and then refrigerate it, if you don't have time to re bake. it's for your grandparents I am sure they will love whatever you can do for them.
the buttercream that's overpowered is mixed with the other batches it has ruined them all. it's supposed to be a 3 tiered layer. a lot of people are coming. I have never had cake behave like this before...and now the dishwasher is making the kitchen smell weird.
Is your weird vanilla the Wilton one with the tan label? It smells really weird but it tastes fine. It smells like tussin cough syrup but after it sits a little while it goes away.
I don't know about using the broken one if it's part of the bottom tier. It might make the whole thing want to fall down.
If the party is tomorrow afternoon, you should go to sleep now and work on the cake in the morning. Sometimes we can get so tired that nothing works well.
I agree... take a little break (NAP). That way you will be more realxed and less likley to make mistakes... I'm sure it will turn out great!
