I bought a canon mp610 with chipped cartridges. Used it 4 times somewhat successfully (colors were off from the very start) then the colors changed drastically. I cleaned the print cartridge as per a demo I saw at ices but----ddduuuuhhhh the demo was from a different comoany than my images (oh boy, wasn't I embarrassed when I called the company and they told me that demo wasn't them! smile!) so I bought a new print head ($56) and new ink cartridges ($75) and the colors don't work! each time I do a deep cleaning and tap out the ink like the isntructions say the colors get worse! Now only blue will print. I am fed up with the hours and $$$ I spent on this. I will call the company tech support agsin today but anyone have this happen to them? What do I do now?

I have the same printer. Let it sit all summer while I was gone. Can't get it to print now. Am waiting on a new print head, should be delivered today. Hope I have more success than you have. My printer did print very good images when it was working. I tried cleaning the old one, but that did not work.

I too have invested a lot of money for little results. I know this doesn't help, but at least you know you aren't the only one. Let us know what the tech says.

As a computer support tech who just happens to decorate cakes as a hobby, I can tell you that sometimes printers lose their "logic". This is the programming on the card in the printer that tells it what colors to print. If this isn't working correctly, whenever the computer says "print yellow", it may substitute cyan or magenta. If swapping the cartridges and print head don't help, you may have to replace the printer.

Yes, they can and not only the edible image ones, although I think they clog up easier.

I had a cannon. I had the same problems sooo fustrating. I now have an epson so much better.
When i used the cannon i had to change to colors all the tme usually two or three prints befor i got a good one.

I bought a canon ip3500. Within a month it was clogged. I steam cleaned it and cleaned it through the maintenance used up all the ink and clogged again. I got more ink and one of the colors never worked again. AGain only after ONE month. I've had an epson for a year thanks to fiddlesticks and haven't had a problem since. Takes a 24 pack of paper to up the ink and I can leave the printer off for 3 months and still works when I turn it on.

You don't want to do too much PRINT HEAD CLEANING because it will suck off all your ink and still not solving your problem. You can take off the print head and flash with hot water(Top & Bottom). So ink will go away and then put your cartridge back and make a color chart then print the color chart.

I have an epson printer and i have my settings to plain paper and matte finish and it comes out better than any of the other settings. I think the matte wastes less ink and has a better quality. So play around with your settings to see what will work best. HTH

If you have Epson printer then - keep it in Matte Setting. Because different brand of printer will require different paper setting. If you use Plain paper then you may have broken lines across because it does not print out enough ink to cover your edible paper.

A lot depends on your ink, which company you are getting it from. Inks do vary from company to company and if they are not filtered well or thin enough, you will have clogging, especially if you do not print often enough. Edible supply is right, you do not want to clean using the cleaning through the printer too much as it does use a lot of ink. The only time you should use the cleaning through the printer is if you have a slight clog, it may fix it, or if you do a warm water rinse, you want to do a cleaning to pull the ink through the printhead.

All I can say is I feel bad for you and that I understand. I retired my edible image printer for similar reasons. Too much trouble, and too expensive. I'm in the process of finding someone reliable to print my images now. We'll see.
