You will never believe in a million years what I just did. I was making petit fours w/poured fondant icing. Then it happened, I accidentally put anise flavoring in my fondant instead of almond flavoring. I took this disaster one further and because I am such a skin flint decided well maybe if I add some vanilla extract to it, it will help disquise the flavor. Helped a little. OK! Now the Grand Finale! Are you ready for this. I'm such a dumb A$$. I went ahead and poured it on some of my petit fours. Yes, I did. Big, BIG, mistake. Lucky it was only a few, because I will probably be throwing them away. NASTY. And the moral of the story boys and girls: ALWAYS CHECK FLAVORS TWICE, POUR ONCE! THE END. I feel better now.
I make cinnamon peanut butter cookies for my family...and accidentally put in cumin instead....I saw a C, it was the same brand....cumin peanut butter cookies are not so good...
When my husband was a kid, he said they added salt instead of sugar into their sugar cookies!
Ugh. I feel your pain. A few weeks ago, I had to throw out a batch of chocolate hazelnut fudge icing when I used almond extract instead of hazelnut. An easy mistake since the almond is CLEAR and the hazelnut is DARK BROWN. *sigh* Idiot...
