I plan on making several different shapes of cookies to decorate (fondant covered) for the holidays, since I put so much time in the decorating part, can I freeze the baked undecorated cookies with good results. I would appreciate any advice on this.

I've never frozen cokies myself, but have read here on CC that people do it with fine results.

I freeze mine all the time in airtight container. I thaw them in the fridge and then take them out and let them warm up to room temperature before icing. They always taste fresh - never had any complaints.

In my opinion, I think they don't taste as good as fresh ones. But that's only my own opinion. I know some people do it here.

Edit : I only freeze my unbaked cut-out cookies.

I've frozen the cut outs or balls of dough and then baked. Saves time and they are "fresh baked."

the only difference I've EVER noticed is that after the cookies have been frozen they tend to be softer and chewier than fresh baked which always seem more crispy. I personally prefer soft and chewy cookies, if you don't...you can always rebake them for about 5 minutes in a 250 degree oven to recrisp them once they come to room temp.

I have frozen all shapes and forms of cookies--dough, uniced, iced, complete with fondant. choc dec, and never had a problem. Due to time constraints, I've already finished 300 Christmas cookies--and have more waiting to be bagged.
Sure they're best right out of the oven, but even after being frozen they're still better than the greasy chunks from the grocery store.

I've frozen my cut out, baked, but unfrosted cookies and no one knows the difference. I make sure they are in a WELL-SEALED container and the flavor is no different. I am sure that if they aren't sealed well, they could pick up some funky freezer smell/taste.

My neighbor does the same with drop sugar cookies and they are fantastic.
I make double batches of all of my drop cookie recipes. I bake what I need and wrap the rest of the dough in layers of saran and freezer bags. (Similar to tube cookie dough at the store) They go in the freezer to be sliced and baked for later. I always use them up in 2 months or less.

You could always try a batch and see what you think...........

I freeze my undecorated - I wrap in the in aluminum foil and then put them in an air tight container. They taste just as good weeks later.

I put baked cookies into a ziploc and then into an airtight container.
