I found that winn-dixie is going out of business. I went there and found all the bakery supplies at almost give away prices..everything from airbrushes to heavy duty bakery turn tables and cake boxes boards and cookie boxes etc. to last me a lifetime two huge pallets full of stuff he was piling the stuff on saying eh...1.00 for this...5.00 for that...i got prob. 2000.00 worth of stuff for less than 200.00!! if anyone else is where this is going on i reccomend you get in on it!
A few of our Winn Dixies went out of business-sold to another company-then they closed a few of those stores---they didn't offer any sales when the company name changed but did when the close outs happened-but those stores did not have bakery items-I always miss out of the good stuff!!
I checked the winn dixie site.Do you know if the saverite stores are also going out of business?I'll have to check tomorrow. There is one 1 mile from me.
Kayday, I forgot all about this!
I hit up mine - actually it was Save Rite. (Yep Becca, some Save Rites are closing too, they're all the same company)
The one near me cleaned out quick though and actually closed yesterday. I went last Thursday and got quite a few extracts and seasonings for dirt cheap. (70% off at the time)
I'll have to check the city for others who may still be open. I think this is the last week for most.
Kayday, did you go to the bakery department? That is a great steal!
I think it's sad that all these old stores are going out of business. Thanks to Walmart, Target & other stores. I hate to shop at Walmart it is so dirty there. I won't go unless I absolutely have to. I just hope Brookshires & Kroger's doesn't get hit. It's very sad
Krogers is big on the west coast, TC, only here they are called Ralph's. Here in Torrance, which is a pretty spread out city, we have 1 Albertsons (Safeway), but I drive to another that's a bit closer if not in another city. In my immediate area there are 3 Ralph's and 1 independant market. I don't mind Ralph's, but I just hate to think that they have the market cornered (no puns intended).

Yes, I was very excited! The store goods foods etc..wound up at 90% off! I went today and they had all of the stock sold..and the mgr. said sorry out of merchandise! I then saw a sign that said all fixtures for sale! So I went looking around..I found several big pallets full of cake board and boxes and veggie tray containers...an airbrush and tons of colors for it. And a heavy duty turn table ( I think an adult could stand on it but it turns smoothly) a ton of stuff left in the bakery that he basically thought wasnt worth much..even cake pans! And a huge box with probably 150 or more packets of those little character packets to go on cakes..you know the ones like with several little figures..like cinderella and the coach...and sprinkles...and stuff? Well he sold me the whole box for $5.00! As i said in my post earlier...I estimate I got around 2000.00 worth for 150.00
I hate seeing walmart shutting everything down too turtley. But funny thing is ..ours here are spotless. But it is unfair to a lot of smaller and or older businesses.
Hey Tc i didnt know you guys had brookshires in Louisiana. Thought it was jsut a Texas store. Brookshires is big here we have about 10 in a 50 mile radius if not more.
Kroger's are really big here in Ohio too. I remember Winn-Dixie when I lived in Fla but there aren't any here in Ohio.
KayDay: I very glad that you were able to clean up on that sale. Congrats.
I too, always miss out on the great deals!!
We had Albertson's in Illinois, but Kroger is a biggie here-lost the Winn Dixies-We have NUMEROUS Wal-Marts and some Meijers-I don't care for Meijers and Love Wal-Mart-ours are very nice.
Wow KayDay what an awsome find. I'll have to remember that if one of our grocery stores go out of business, being up North we have Krogers, Farmer Jacks and Meijers.
I too am not a Walmart fan though people I know get deals all the time. I LOVE Target though
