I get ACD and Mailbox News. I look forward to getting them. Just to warn you though - it will be about 4 months from the time you subscribe until the first magazine arrives in your mailbox.

Mailbox News is not worth the paper it is printed on and I cancelled my subscription the after the first issue. The stuff on CC is a million times better than what is in that magazne.

As far as American Cake Deocrating - wellllllll - I am getting just a little pi$$ed off. I ordered the magazine back in August and still have not gotten my first issue. I called them AGAIN several weeks ago and asked where my October-November issue was...."Oh, we will be sending is soon." Right.....if I don't get it "soon" I will be calling and telling them what they can do with their magazine.

I am sorry there is no excuse for this any longer. I am not buying the change over in management and all of the other excuses any longer. If you want to publish a magaizne then get with the program and get the thing to your subscribers otherwise close the doors. They have been using the same excuse now for more than a year.

I just needed to vent.....thanks.

OK, now this is just my own personal experience and opinion here. . .Don't waste your money.

I used to get ACD and I found the magazines were horrible. Too many old fashioned techniques, ugly cakes, nothing new or even interesting. I got more frustrated and angry with each edition thinking of the money I wasted on it. I think the only one I ever picked up more than once was the one with the black, green and white Nicholas Lodge cakes on the front and that was the last one I got as I didn't renew my subscription.

I'm one of those who saves every single cake magazine I buy but every one of my ACD magazines went straight to the trash. icon_sad.gif

Definitely DON'T I haven't received one since July and I got a Subscription about to expire notice...That is crazy because I ordered it yes a year ago this Thanksgiving, didn't receive my first one until late March, I have 3 of them so far, and thought that the subscription was for 6... So in a year I have receive 3 issues for the subscription. Hoping I get at least one more before my subscription expires. IMHO the subscription shouldn't expire when you placed the order but with the issue month that you finally received your first issue. Since I didn't get my first issue until 4 months after I subscribed I missed out on at least 2 issues, if they don't send another then I missed out on 3 issues. ACD SUCKS!

It's really a shame this is the foremost cake decorating magazine in the U.S. because it's pretty worthless...when you actually do get one!

I've subscribed to a couple cake magazines from the UK (Wedding Cakes and Sugarcraft) and they were far better than ACD, but the Wedding Cakes one is just lots of pretty pictures - not really techniques or anything and they do cost more coming from overseas. Still both are better magazines than ACD. Now I can buy these plus one called Modern Wedding Cakes in our bookstore so that's what I do.

For instructions, techniques, etc., I use good old CakeCentral! It's proven to be the best source for most of my questions.

DON'T BOTHER. Not worth the aggravation with that magazine, even if you manage to get an issue.

ACD does take a long time to get your issues going I have received 2 issues in the same month before because they were that behind on getting the previous issue to me. I like the few techniques that are featured, but they are few. There are so many advertisments in the mag. ACD has been helpful to me, but I am new to cake decorating. I have also enjoyed many of their softassilk recipes. I really have learned some techniques from their 4 or featured designs with step by step instructions. I would say you might be amazed if you are new to decorating.

Don't waste your time!!. Cake Central is your best bet. I got them for about two years and just couldn't take it anymore. I received more mail about renueing my subscritptions than the actual magazine. In my opinion it's a waste of time. Maybe ACD should take a look at CC and revise the way the chose to do their magazine. I beleive anyone could get more here on CC. The information we ge here is PRICELESS!!!!

I've got years and years of ACD, but I stopped getting them because there seemed to be less and less actual content and more and more ads. I don't mind the ads, I know they have to do that, but I want the other stuff too.
