Royal Icing And Candy Melts

I want to make 3D decorations to place on cookies that I will be covering with royal icing. My first instinct is to make the decorations out of candy melts, so I can use candy molds... does anyone know if this is a bad idea? I don't know if the royal icing will break down due to the oils in the candy melts.
In the event that candy melts are a bad idea... have any of you used royal icing in candy molds?
Thanks in advance!
I have used molded chocolates made with candy melts on my royal-iced cookies with no ill affects. I have never used royal icing in a candy mold. My first impression (no pun intended!) would be that they might not come out once dried (which may take some time given the fact that candy molds are non-porous).
Awesome! Thanks for the advice, cookieman... I've seen your work on this and other sites, your cookies are a real inspiration!!
