You can find the sliced almonds at Walmart and even seen them at the Dollar store.

I made these a few years back, I found the recipe on AllRecipes.com

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/spooky-witches-fingers/detail.aspx - i would just decrease the almond extract cos its a bit too almondy for my liking icon_smile.gif

I attempted to do this as a "trial/experimental" option with two fingers with the tri-colored candy corn while baking - they melted all over - DO NOT try it.

How about the white airheads taffy candy? Roll it out as thin as you want and cut the pieces the way you want or need. Its very inexpensive and very tasty.

Great job!

I cheated and bought a pan for the fingers, although I made them free hand with standard sugar cookie dough previously and left out the leavening.  Worked well, but easier with the  shaped pan.  I tried with both slivered almonds and whole blanched almonds, and actually prefer the whole almonds.  Easier to work with, and not so much picking through to find good ones

Whole blanched almonds

@yortma I agree with @LetsDoCake1.   Kids must love these.

Not only kids.  I had a Mum yell at her kid last year to not eat the finger.  She wanted to take a picture and send it to her friend as she thought it was hilarious.  I don't think they are used to anything macabre around where I live.

This year I am going to present all my little visitors with knives in bloody cupcakes with blood inside so when they eat them it oozes out everywhere (homemade strawberry syrup).  If Mums want cute then they will learn quick enough not to come to my house.
