?? - Using Gold Luster Dust For Engagement Ring Cookie

Has anyone ever done these via this process? I have a request to make the ring cookie with a gold band. I have the gold luster dust and thought I'd use it for the band. My question is, do I basecoat the band with gold or white RI? I read here that I ice first then paint over the RI with the dust/extract mixture after the RI dries. Is that right? Assistance please, I need to start on these tomorrow night and I know that I came to the right place for guidance! Thanks in advance.
made some last year , base ice first , let dry overnight if you can, then tape off the part you don't want gold , and airbrush the gold. You can use the blue aponters tape or a piece of card board.
Hi cookierookie,
I've tried it a couple of ways--one where I iced the entire diamond and band in white, and just painted the band part in gold or silver, and one where I iced the diamond in white and band in yellow or gray colored RI. It worked better for me when I did the band in yellow or gray, then painted with gold or silver luster dust because the streaking and uneven "paint" spots were less obvious. It does take more time to mix both colors, though. I don't have an airbrush but that sounds like a good technique as well! Good luck!
