Hi All,
(posting a better link)
Here's a quick FYI - We just posted a new how-to video showing a fast way of making lace using SugarVeil:

Thanks!

I have got to try this. I have always looked and dreamed but never had the money for it. The disco dust, molds, cutters, and all have come first but I have got to get this!
I also hope they can come up with a variety of silicone molds for the laces in the future.
I found the site for the machine and the pail of icing that is being used. I did not see any molds like in the video. I did like the bow that was made using the ribbed mold for a two toned icing sheet. I so have my Christmas list ready. Please Santa put me on the "Nice" list.
I have the sugar veil and also the comb it is so cool and the taste is pretty good. stays soft for a good while to work with and then will harden but it is very breakable.
Leah, all is so new, we're just now getting the site updated - Here's the link for the SugarVeil lace mat/mold and the other products used in the video: www.sugarveil.com/mat/ Thanks much, Emily at SugarVeil
I have been looking at this for the last month. My b-day is this month and already hinted to dh. Tatorchip, did this really break easy? Everything I've said that it is strong and flexible.

I made a very thin thin lace and stored it and when I went to put on cake I broke it but more than likely it was me so just be careful like emiley said in another thread you can resofen it. I just wanted to set it on bc icing and I broke it lol I treat it like an egg now very gently

beautiful
I just used SugarVeil for the first time yesterday. I had good results mostly. Uncolored and in the natural white state, it piped fine with a number 1 tip. It set up nicely, even as humid and damp as it was in the Ohio valley, in an hour or so. When I thought it might be getting too firm, I did as instructed and placed it in a huge ziplock bag between parchment layers.
I needed black as well, and had to add a lot of Americolor gel to get rich black. It still piped well, but even with a 1S tip and working with the mixture chilled, it spread more than I would have liked. I could not pipe letters within my black spider web because the details were lost when the piping spread out. The instructions called for powder color, but I don't know what they mean by that -- petal dust? I haven't seen powdered food coloring.
Someone asked how it tastes. Not good, but not bad. I am placing it on Sugarshack BC, so I substituted a couple teaspoons of almond extract for the water. That helped the taste a lot. It is sticky and chewy like taffy.
Oh, this stuff is only as good as your piping skills. Mine suck at best, and with all the fondant/gumpaste craze, my weak piping skills have deteriorated to even worse for lack of practice lately!! Plus I have very shaky hands.
All told, I am happy with the product. I think the $20 price tag is not so steep when you consider how much the bag makes.
