Hi everybody, as some of you may know I am active duty Air Force, well I am currently deployed and fortunately can still get my CC fix! Anyhow, I have been trying to think of ways to celebrate some of the guys birthdays here and also what I can possibly do to keep morale up through the holiday season.

Being a military family and baker all of my ideas come back to what I do best and people always want the most, cookies! cake! treats! I'm not even sure if anyone would want to do this but I would love it if some of you would want to help by sending cookies and stuff over the next few months, I adore decorating cookies now and I know these guys would get such a kick out of something so special. Like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years and then some kind of birthday type for Oct, Nov, Dec & Jan (we have a few birthdays each month, so then I could do little bday parties) I would have my family and friends bake and send me the stuff, but I'm the one they come to for all of their baking needs, so I'm stuck!

Please let me know if this is out of line or innapropriate to post, I've just been racking my brain and seeing where I could order stuff for all of this, but I just can't afford to do that and I figured if anyone would like to do some stuff for practic or something, it would seriously make these guys days (and sorry I keep saying guys, but I'm 1 of 2 females here and the bosses are really hoping we can bring a little bit of nurturing and care to the table) Thanks for your time & if anyone has any other ideas for a better of different way to do this I would love to hear! Andrea

hmmm...this sounds like a great idea!

I'm worried about one thing though icon_redface.gif the heat. I know it gets really hot over there and also while traveling. Would decorated cookies be safe? I'm not sure icon_sad.gif

Hi- I am an Air Force wife stationed overseas. I would love to bake some cookies for you all.

We have a cookie exchange scheduled here for 4 Dec. and I could have everyone bake an extra dozen cookies (and I would be happy to donate my 5 dozen cookies I will be getting).

I also have a small Girl Scouts troop. I can have the girls make cards for the holidays and send them.

I love doing anything I can for the military! Send me your address and we will get some packages on the way!

private message me your address. There are a bunch of Girl Scout troops around here (Nellis AFB) that send cookies over-seas every year. I'm sure they would love to add your address to their list!

When my brothers were in the service I use to make and send cookies to them all the time. I would place the cookies in ziploc baga and then put them in a box. I then fill the box with popcorn for cushioning and the cookies always arrived with little breakage. They had guys in their division even ate the popcorn! LOL icon_lol.gif

pm me the information. I'm just starting out on the decorating cookie side of things but I enjoy baking 'regular' cookies, my faves being my white chocolate macadamia. Hubby used to be in the army and we send care packages frequently to various army buddies that are still enlisted. would love to help you out as well.

Hey PM me your APO. My husband is Air Force Reserve but went over seas last year and we sent him toys for the hospital in Balad. So this sounds great. I always do cookies and breads for his shop here (McChord) too so they dont feel left out. LOL

Thank you all soooooo much, from the bottom of my heart. I can't wait to get this going, the guys are going to be so excited, I'm hoping to keep it a secret from them.

I will pm each of you with mailing info, you will have to include a customs form, but they are super easy and the P.O. rep can help if you need.

I am so blown away by the generosity, thank you again, I hope this works, I have a bunch of birthday and holiday decor type stuff on order and now there will be special treats to go along with them, so cool!

Andrea

Edited to add:

Could you all please PM or email ([email protected]) me your email addresses so I can send 1 list and everyone can decide when they would like to send treats, Thank you !!!

Big THANK YOU to Patiese1 the first boxes of cookies got here today!!! Oh my goodness I cannot tell you how excited and happy the October Birthday boys were and I dont even have the other stuff yet, hats and birthday napkins and stuff. We have a mail call and they had 2 boxes for me and the guys were all like oh man you got 2 boxes Sgt Potts (I knew what they were) so I open them and a few guys in the office were like oooh you got something good, we can smell it! So then I called the 3 birthday guys in and explained to them a friendly baking angel had sent them some special treats, the looks on their faces, priceless! They went down to the break room and shared with some of the other guys while I was trying to dig my camera out and I guess they got wind there were more in the box, so there was this stampede of combat boots, lol. Long story short I let them have all of them and they are still as I type happily munching and moaning away. I ran down there and got ½, no joke ½ of a pumpkin cookie and they were GOOD!! Thank you, Thank you, thank you!!!!!!!! Im going to get pictures and put them all together for all of you when we're done, did I say THANK YOU!! Andrea

My friend and I will host a holiday cookie exchange on December 19. We are asking all ladies (40-90 ladies) to bring an extra dozen for the troops. We will send all cookies along with a group picture taken at the party and letters from all of us sending our thanks. We will have a minimum of 480 cookies to mail and even as much as 1090 cookies. How can we find names and addresses for shipment of these holiday care packages?

Thanks so much,
Lesley
