I got plenty of ugly faces in those paused moments!...thank god for hand shots!..
A few days with my accent and you will end up speaking spanish! icon_lol.gif

By the way, good luck with that 100% humidity!..I say make sure is dry before trying to put them together.
You dont want broken petals. Unless you made extras!

Hey sharon!..is so good to see you around!.. I forgot so say that earlier!

All joking aside, yes, do post a picture of the flowers Lea when you are done. Can't wait to see how they turn out, I'm betting they are beautiful!

I am also betting Lea, Edna dvd is awesome and that is easy to follow along with her.

God Bless,
Sharon

Actually you don't even SEE her face until the last half of the tape so you get some great gumpaste and knife wielding hand pauses for a while! icon_lol.gif

You would be making a good bet on Edna's DVD being awesome and easy to follow! Seriously, I can't say enough good about how well she teaches on this tape! And hey, she's great company too!! thumbs_up.gif

Edna said: Hey sharon!..is so good to see you around!.. I forgot so say that earlier!

It's good to be around...I have had a lot of family visiting in last 3 to 4 weeks and I was sick over the weekend...but feeling better now. I think I have just been over doing it here latey and it is catching up with me.

Lea said: Seriously, I can't say enough good about how well she teaches on this tape! And hey, she's great company too!!

I know her youtubes are outstanding so I know the dvd has to be. She was great company for me also Lea when I did the Calla Lilly for the wedding cake. So, I know and understand what your saying, when you talk about how well she teaches. Yes, I will come clean...I did have to pause her from time to time while making them. I even made a few extras just so I could play with dusting them icon_lol.gif

I'll have to put the dvd on my wish list thumbs_up.gif
God Bless,
Sharon

Teecakes, is right that dvd is so great and easy to learn from, I am waiting on some more of my supplies to come in, and then I will be making mine.

Hey Edna,
I was wondering why you were hiding your face so much, Come to find out you are shy like I am, but you are very Pretty, so you should show your face more, And I know what you mean about the accent thing, I am from another Country also, and even though I was here 21 years People still ask me to repeat what I say They say oh it is your Jamaican Accent, Mind you I am from Guyana

And how about that orchid flower next, the one in your photos

Yes, I made extras because of the humidty and being aware of how easily these kinds of pieces can break! I won't even attempt to put them together until I know they are completely dry. icon_smile.gif

On speaking Spanish after spending a day with you in my kitchen.......I will never say "cornstarsh" the same again!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gificon_razz.gif I LOVE listening to you talk! I'll be listening and watching again as soon as these pieces are dry! thumbs_up.gif

Uniqueask has a great suggestion for your next flower DVD......that gorgeous Orchid!! thumbs_up.gif

My Lily pieces all finally dried enough for me to get them painted! icon_biggrin.gif

Edna, did you glaze yours before you wired them? I want mine to have the same finish as the one on the picture of your DVD and I can't tell if it is glazed or not.

Ready to get wired!!! icon_biggrin.gif

icon_cry.gif Well, I made a mistake!! One of those you only make once then you have learned your lesson! I used ONE SIZE TO SMALL OF WIRE on the Lily petals! Edna calls for #26, which I did not have so used my 28 thinking that would work. The weight of the petals is making them hang due south on 26!
Yes, I rolled the leaves very thin just as I do on all my petals but the wire is just not strong enough to hold them up!
I am trying to salvage them and wire them together anyway, just so all is not lost. They are all wired except one petal that broke but I have another one painted and the dots drying on it as I type. Thank God I made extra petals!! Once I get that last petal wired on I plan to support the entire flower with a wad of gp and see if that will work. If not, tomorrow I will be starting all over again with new petals.

Lesson learned; ALWAYS use strong enough gage wire to support the petal or leaf attached to it!

lol lea I learned that lesson a long time ago..But those leafs are not wasted, you can still use them on the cake with no wire!..

OK, got the last petal wired on and am holding it in place for this picture. I have the gp fix on it now and it is drying. I hope that little fix works!!! I seriously love this flower and will be making more of them right away! icon_smile.gif

I am so happy that I caught this thread. Edna, as soon as your site is up. I will be ordering. I have watched your Utube videos and they have taught me so much. I made a calalily cake that same weekend after watching your tutorial. And you made it seem so easy.
Thank you for sharing all your info with us. You are a wonderful person.

BTW, I regretfully took off my acrylics because I kept on making little nicks in my fondant. Well, after watching your tutorials, I went right back to the salon and put them back on icon_wink.gif. Your hands are beautiful. I guess I just have to master the art of working with my frenchies.

WOW! Lea your flower looks GREAT!Can't wait to see the cake.

Bless your heart Edna, hope they get it up and running soon...but I know how you feel, I have to ship my tower back to the makers today. They have to fix my CD/DVD drive, it stop working. The think that gets to me is I have only had this computer about 4 months, so I will not be able to get on CC 7 to 10 days.

Well, they said I would have it back in that time frame, I hope so or sooner. Wish me luck ladies, on getting back soon, so guess I will say I will speak with you all in about 10 days.

God Bless,
Sharon

Edna, I have also enjoyed you You Tube tutorials for the Calla Lillies. I had made them before viewing your tutorial, but you made it much simpler. You are a pleasure to watch and learn from. I too will be ordering your new video as soon as possible. Please rush those web geeks along and get up and running ASAP. It's hard to wait for something so good. BTW Lea your lily was absolutely fantastic! Can't wait to give one a try. Lillies are my fav. Again thank you Edna for sharing you talent with us.

In looking at the picture I think the 2 things that make this lily look so realistic are the pistals (the long green things) and that ridge down each petal.

I've tried making lilies before, even working with a real one nearby for referance and those are the 2 features that I just couldn't duplicate correctly.

It is that attention to detail that makes Miss Edna such a treasure
