So I'm getting a bonus at work next week for hiring my friend. I could spend the $750 on my credit card bills but I've decided to buy some more cake decorating stuff instead. I will be buying an Agbay (FINALLY), some petit four molds, some veiners, more colors, and of course more cake pans. Any other ideas???

I'd probably be practical and spend half on the things you mentioned, then put the other half toward the credit card bills. That interest can really add up!

Well my credit cards are up around $20,000 so $750 wont really put a dent in them....lol I very rarely get a little extra money to go and spend like this so I'm taking this opportunity to get something for myself...I'm a single mom and rarely get to spend money like this on myself.... I deserve this one!

Yeah, I'd probably pay bills too, however....take this opportunity to buy sturdy practical things if you intend to stick with this. Such as:

Magic Line square pans
Agbay...check!
Good cutters

Sugarshack DVDs...

lots of other stuff, I could go and on!

Just thinking about that kind of debt makes my tummy hurt! Sometimes between my credit cards and my medical bills it's hard to sleep at night...all together mine is only about $6600, and $5000 of that is the medical bills.

Anyhow...what kind of petit four molds are you getting?

And I would get the sets of Jem cutters if I were going to splurge...at least one set of flowers and then the set of leaves...I've wanted that leaf set for a long time.

Personally, i'm pretty practical and would use the money towards the debt, maybe one thing for myself as a treat the rest would be for bills.


I recently came into some extra money and while i did spend $100 on myself the rest went for bills.

Every one of the tappit letter cutters ever made. Lower case, upper case, you name it.

I'd go for the tappits and the SugarShack DVDs and an Agbay.

The way things are going around.I would Buy food for a Family that doesn't have to eat And take at least $200 and Donated to Cancer Society.. That's what I would do if I had $750.00.

What can I say. You have such a casual attitude about a Twenty Thousand Dollar Debt.

So many people have lost their great jobs lately that I don't think anyone can absolutely count on having their job tomorrow, or next week when you get your bonus.

We all need to treat ourselves now and then, or life would be too harsh, but blowing a wad of extra money, in your circumstances, is disheartening to hear.

I agree with all, lowering your credit is the best way to go, agabay and the rest to pay the card, if yo ask me.

I hate to be a bummer but I have to say that I have learned the hard way from being in a debt situation when I was younger that I now live by.....don't spend any money that you don't have to spend on more things. It may not bother you much now (and that is good to not be stressed about it) but in the back of your mind, it still hangs over your head somewhere until it is paid off.

Anyway, I love my airbrush for decorating and my edible image printer!! Those are my two favorite tools. Oh, and the sugar shack dvd's that are coming in the mail!!

Hey how often do we really get to blow some money in this times! I say get online and whatever make you smile buy it! Remember when you shop always love it! Luster dust, DVDs pans flavoring, cutters, molds, high ratio shortening, cake boards,etc...........................................................................................................................................................!!!!! I wouldn't pay the debt or buy anything. I would keep the stash hidden in the house ( out of sight out of mind ) to use in an emergency. You know, the kind that usually gets put on a credit card.....tires, brakes, death in the family travel money, etc...

Not everyone is in a bad situation and really she just wants to know ideas on what she could treat herself to. Its found money so I say treat yourself and the debt will get paid. Besides $750 wouldn't really put a dent in it

I'd buy a stand mixer. Oh how I dream of a good stand mixer!!

Also, tappits sets, flower cutters, chocolate transfer sheets, a really good bottle of wine

Not sure what you already have or need, and to help answer your question without a lecture because let's face it-- you are an adult and are going to do what you want to do...

My first major purchase to help with cakes was a stand mixer, so if you don't have one I highly suggest it.
Other items I am glad I splurged on and cannot live without are some Magic Line cake pans.
AgBay is a good idea, wish I had one. On my Christmas wish list will probably be an airbrush, followed by an edible ink printer. Tappits are cool, I do want some Sugarshack DVDs, and all kinds of cutters.

I would probably treat myself to the one major thing that I have been wanting which is a dvd cake decorating collection (Sugarshack's) . I am layed off right now so I could only wish for extra $$$ but I am happy for you. I am doing the "new cake supply purchase dance" for you right now. Happy shopping!

Well, I'm out of work, so I would use the money to pay off my doctor's bills that are about to get reported to the credit bureau, and then I'd maybe buy some groceries. Yeesh, the thought of how even that little extra money would be such an incredible relief right now just about makes me wanna cry. Oh, to have disposable income again...

Wow. I'd say $750 would make a nice dent in any debt regardless of the balance. And to say it doesn't help is non-sensical. Of course it helps - by $750. Or think of starting a 529 plan for your children's college fund. I'm sorry, when you have that much debt it just seems irresponsible to spend it on frivolous items for a hobby.

Sorry, I know you didn't want these opinions but I just have to say it. I'd spend $50 - $100 on a treat for yourself and put the rest to your bills.

And don't kid yourself about your job security. It does not exist in this economy.

Oh I forgot, how about a couple of hundred dollars worth of gum paste monograms courtesy of....me! Ya know, they're a pain, muuuch easier to buy them premade!

I just went to my first cake show this year and I had lot of fun but not enough extra money to spend on new toys or take any classes. So I have started telling people when ever they ask me what do I want, I say that the best thing they can give me would be money or a visa gift card to go towards my next cake show shopping spree. So if I got that extra $750. it would go straight into my Cake Show Shopping Spree Piggy Bank. So Far I have $50. cause i just started this past weekend, looking to get more soon cause of my birthday and the holidays that are coming up.

but if i really needed something right away I would go get it and save the rest.

As to the Credit Card Issue:
I feel that as long as I'm on top of my bills and it's all on time. I'll do as I wish. but if I was behind on my bills with late payment, that 750.00 will be on it's way to pay that bill. No butts about it.

Really If I was given $750 today I would put 500.00 in the piggy bank and use 200.00 for food.

I'd pay my debts and if I don't have any I'd get a nice kitchenaide

I simply can't imagine having that much debt, ouch, the combined max of all of our credit cards doesn't go even half that high! I would probably buy just one item and pay the rest on the debt...

I am happy that we only have 2 "debts" which are our mortgage and car payment. When we do come into extra money, we stash it in our savings for things like vacations and extras. Credit cards are for emergencies and travel. If I DID happen to have money to spend on cake supplies (which are paid for by the money I make selling cakes), I would buy an Agbay, and if I had even more, I would get some Magic Line pans.

Go buy the cheapest ticket you can get to the great land of OZ - our economy is doing so much better than yours!! its coming up for summer! and we won't give you any lectures on debt!

Enjoy your spending spree - at least you know there are 1,000's of people over there waiting in line to buy your Agbay on Ebay when you lose your job and your loan is recalled! Geez guys what a bunch of wet blankets!
