This may seem like a silly question but I have never used luster dust before and was wondering how to apply it to the fondant. Do I just used water or would vodka work better? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Vodka or Lemon Extract would work because of the alcohol. Water would make the Fondant sticky.
Just remember, a little goes a long way with the Luster Dust's.

are we talking like a drop or two of the liquid to fall within the "little going a long way?"

You can also brush it on dry. If you're using Wilton, then painting it on will make it look metallic but brushing it on dry will make it look glittery.

always use alcohol to paint on dusts. the more alcohol you use, the more watery the paint will be. so it comes down to what look you want to get.

if your doing it dry over a large area, a blusher brush is great.

If you are just brushing it on, then using a pastry brush first to apply a very, very fine coat of vegetable fat to your fondant will help the lustre dust to stick and avoid a streaky look. Then use a blusher brush (kept only for this purpose!) to brush over and buff up the lustre dust. I did this yesterday for a large piece of fondant that was to be a fabric drape on a wedding cake (pics to come later today!_, looks gorgeous!
