So, I keep hearing about these bacon flavored cupcakes. It sounds like they are sweet, and have sweet frosting, but include fried bacon baked into the cupcake. Even thinking about this combination is making me feel sick. I was wondering if any of you have tried it. Did you like it?
Well, they do put bacon into donuts and chocolate cake. In fact, I think I saw these two items picked as Duff's favorite foods on the Food Network ("Best thing I ever ate"). I could be mistaken, but I'm almost sure it was mentioned on FN.

Really? I didn't know they put that into donuts.
I have yet to try any Bacon Baked Goods, but I sure am intrigued. Allrecipes.com has four recipes posted. Hubby would like me to give them a shot.

It's insane what people will do with bacon. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's surprised. I googled bacon cake and donuts, and it seems that a lot of folks are fans. The photos do look tasty though.
I've found a couple reviews about two different bakeries selling bacon cupcakes. Both reviewers seemed ecstatic about the combination and flavor.
i was mortified when i heard of these too...but i saw it on some program and it actually looked very yummy!!!! hahahahahahahah
Are you meaning to tell me you've never dipped your bacon in maple syrup while eating pancakes? If so, you're missing out on a world of delish! The sweet and the savory... ::drools::
The problem I've found with putting bacon in a baked good, is it tends to get mushy so you don't get that wonderful crisp, bacon-y goodness. I've been playing with modified pancake batter. My goal is to create a pancake flavored cake with a maple glaze and top it with crispy bacon bits.
Heaven.
Hmmm. A maple-flavored cuppie with bacon would be good. Like dipping the bacon in syrup which I do all the time when eating pancakes/waffles. Maple frosting, bacon chunks on top, drizzled with maple syrup.
Although, honestly, I'd rather just eat the bacon.
Mmmmm. Bacon.

Girl, I am so with you!

LOL! I can assure you that I've never dipped my bacon in maple syrup. Because if so, I would surely die. I don't eat ketchup, or sweet and sour sauce or barbecue sauce. I don't like anything that mixes sweet and salty.
I eat carrots but only if they are cooked, I eat onions only if they are raw. Trust me, I could go on with my "FOOD RULES" for hours.
They were eating chocolate-covered bacon on a radio station during the morning show a few weeks back. The DJs said it was good.
I've been dying to try my hand at some bacon cupcakes. Maple smoked bacon is very popular here and I buy it instead of regular bacon. It is soooo tasty and makes your house smell delish while cooking.
I was thinking a cupcake baked with fried maple bacon and a maple flavored buttercream. I have a few guinea pigs (pun intended) to try them out on so I'll let you know how it goes!
I made bacon cookies once. They were OK but I don't think it's something I want to make very often. They had kind of greasy taste to them.
This sounds like it would taste really delicious! I put cinnamon (ok a lot) into my pancake batter and there are many in my family that like to eat their pancakes with peanut butter. I've mixed peanut butter with my maple syrup for a topping on pancakes and of course, with crisp bacon to dip in the additional syrup that goes on all the other fattening toppings. So to try this cupcake with pancake-like cinnamon batter, pb and maple syrup bc, topped with crispy bacon bits and finished with a drizzle of maple syrup, sounds yummy
ive actually had bacon chocolate before and its delicious! it has the great mix of sweet and salty.
I make pancake cupcakes. Buttermilk Cupcakes with Maple Buttercream topped with Bacon 'Sprinkles'. Every time I make them, somebody tells me they could use more bacon! I dip my bacon in syrup and sprinkle black pepper on it before cooking. It's yummy!! However, I am one who can eat syrup on anything!
I've never tried baking it into the cupcake, but I think I might want to try it now.
To the CC member who said they have never dipped their bacon in syrup, oh you are missing out on a world of goodness! How do you know you don't like something if you have never tried it?? Sweet and salty is the best combo. Do you like PB & J's?? I bet the bacon topped cupcakes are really good. Hey McDonalds has that breakfast sandwhich that is eggs, and sausage and cheese on the little pancakes with the syrup inside. I thought that sounded gross when they first came out ( I still have not tried them actually) but my hubby loves them.

I've been hearing a lot about chocolate dipped bacon lately. Haven't tried it myself yet. I'm not too interested in bacon cupcakes, but I think that would be a wonderful addition to my jalapeno corn muffins.
Voodoo Doughnuts in Portland OR is known for their maple bacon donut (long john). Check out the picture of it on their site: http://www.voodoodoughnut.com/menu.php
FoodNetwork Magazine had a recipe a couple issues back for a maple bacon cupcake that a reader submitted. You might buzz the FN website to see if the recipe is there as well.
