I am making a wedding cake with a Holloween theme and the bride wants BLOOD RED icing..
I used a whole small pot of wilton red on a small batch of buttercream and came up with a pinkish color...added some black and got a victorian rose color, nice but not blood red...
The cake tasting is in 3 days...PLEASE HELP!

I use Americolor super red and have no problem getting the frosting a deep red. If you cannot get Americolor try adding another darker color to the frosting first before applying the red. Hope this helps.
did you wait to see how it will look dry? Red always darkens, a lot, as it sits. Smear some on a plate and let it sit out for an hour or so. Compare it to the batch. You'll se a significant difference.
