I'm kinda interested in doing a "cut out" cake by layering 2 different colors of fondant. I'm wondering if anyone has done this before and can give some pointers... Mainly, can you cut out once the 2nd layer of fondant is on the cake? Should you do it right away, or wait until the fondant "sets" a little bit? Can you put the second layer of fondant on the first layer without anything in between?

Thanks for any input you have.

Do I understand that you want to have a base color overlayed with another color and designs cut out of the top color? If so, I think I would cut out the top layer prior to putitng it on the bottom layer. As for putting anything on them so they stick, I would lay the top color on then go around the edges and LIGHTLY dampen it. If you dampen the entire area where they meet you are going to have a sticky mess on your hands. JMHO>
