Has anyone tried to make the rolled fondant using the recipe from the Wilton web site. I have tried to make MMF and MFF fondant and it has been disasterous.

Just curious if anyone has given this recipe a try and what your thoughts are about it.

I don't know what the recipe on the Wilton site is, but there's a pretty standard recipe that I've seen a bunch of different places. I multiply it by 4x, because then you can use one bottle if corn syrup and one little bottle of Wilton glycerine and not have to measure anything.

The recipe I use:
1 cup cold water in a metal bowl or the top of a double-boiler, soften 4 packets of gelatin in it.

When it's softened, heat it over boiling water, then when it dissolves add 1 bottle of corn syrup and 1 bottle of glycerine. Stir until everything dissolves, and then add some crisco if you want to (a couple of Tbsp). You can also skip that and just knead it into the fondant later.

Stir the liquid into 8# confectioner's sugar (In a BIG bowl). Add flavoring or food color if you want the whole batch the same color at this point. Stir until it's all combined, kneading the sugar in at the end. Wrap it in plastic wrap and let it sit overnight.

You'll need to knead the fondant before you use it. It will be kind of grainy when you first start kneading, but add some crisco to it as you knead it and it will smooth out. This will also give you a good upper-body workout! icon_lol.gif

It should be the same one as the one that's in their books I imagine. If it is that's all I use and I love it. You can add any flavor you want, it actually tastes pretty good.

Im not sure if its in the Fondant book, I got the recipe off the website.

This is the recipe that I printed from there.
1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons of unflavored gelatin
1/4 cup of water
1/2 cup of glucose
2 tablespoons of solid veg shortening
1 tablespoon of glycerin
8 cups (about 2 lbs) of confectioners sugar
icing color and flavoring as desired.

Is this the one you make?

Yes it's the same except you will use an envelope of knox gelatin.
