I often make cakes which are taller than average (about 8-9 inches) but have a standard base size (8", 10", quarter, half, full, etc). I usually put them in a regular cake box and cut and tape the sides to fit. It's a pain and recently customers have asked why I don't have taller boxes.

I sell a lot of these cakes so I would need to buy the boxes in bulk. Can anyone recommend a good place to order them online please.

i am curious about this as well. my cakes are not really taller but a lot of decorations i put on top that make it taller that the 4 or 6". so far i have been using the white bakery boxes with the detached tops and placing long lolly pop sticks at each corner, taping them into the corner for stability which keeps the box top from messing up the cake but keeps the cake covered. I then tape some clear plastic around the extra space where the top and bottom pieces do not meet. it's very annoying to have to do all that though

I've used brpboxshop.com, I just checked out their site and they have a a lot of different heights as well as square boards! I'm tired of cutting boards up. Customer service is great and I think the prices are fair.

For smaller tiered cakes and 3D cakes I use the Domino sugar boxes from Sam's Club (no lids). They are perfect, sturdy for heavier cakes, and fit up to 15" base (16" with slight modification). Since it says "Domino sugar" its not a turnoff to the customer. I tape my business card on the side and there ya go! Sturdy cake box, and free! If the board doesn't fit perfectly inside, I take large wads of foil and wedge them in on the sides of the board so it does not scoot around during transit.

I never deliver with a cake box. I wonder if that is a problem as well? Should I buy a bunch?

I use a layer of that rubbery shelf lining..... that cake won't budge !

The website doesn't seem to have a selection of different base size taller boxes unfortunately. Since these boxes are for a small commercial bakery we need flat packed boxes which we can store on a shelf and put together quickly.

A couple of customers have made comments about being afraid the cakes will get squashed on the drive home since the box flap lids have been taped half open to accommodate the top of the cake. We provide the non-slip grip to set the box on but it would look more professional if the boxes were the correct height so we could close the lid.

In a pinch, I've bought a corrugated box at Office Depot. I've been able to close the lid on a two-tiered cake and in one case I just left the top open. I haven't tried this website but here is one I found when I googled corrugated boxes.
