Now, it's pretty obvious around these parts that most, if not all of us, even the newbies, are pretty serious about our cakes and decorating and making them look GREAT.

So... what would you do, if you were having a leisurely stroll through Cake Wrecks... and saw your own cake there?? (and I'm not taking the posts where they post the 'Sweet' cakes..)

Oh no...did this happen to you? But you know, sometimes those cakes look great! She will even say that it was a well done cake but she is pointing out some specific thing that she finds funny. What happened?

That happened to me once!! It was this cake I was asked to do at a grocery store bakery I worked at. It wasn't my fault. The customer specifically asked for a hideous design and I complied to the best of my ability. I laughed my tushy off and showed all my friends. I was just happy to be noticed and put on the internet by someone other than myself icon_lol.gif But that's just me. I'm hard to offend icon_biggrin.gif

Oh, no I wasn't on there for anything! LOL I was just looking at it yesterday (instead of working) and thought 'Man, I wonder how I would feel if one of mine went up... I think I might cry.'

Thankfully, I know when something looks hideous, so I would never allow something to be seen in public that could come close to the stuff on there!

I would wonder how it got there without a refund to the client? I mean if it so bad that Jen agrees....then there must be something wrong with it! Unless it was supposed to look hideous on purpose.

My belly cake was put up on CW, and when I saw it, I almost threw up. Then, I read Jen's commentary on it. She was finding fault with the subject matter, not the execution of the design. That made it easier for me to deal with. icon_smile.gif

I get *constant* requests from people on Flickr and from CC for instructions on how to make it, so I guess it isn't all that ugly. LOL!

Here it is on CW:

That is a beautiful cake. I would only be sad to be on cake wrecks if I couldn't spell. Which I can't, so I guess I should keep only making cakes for my children. They can't read icon_smile.gif

And see...I LOVE the belly cakes! I loved being pregnant and having a belly, and I think it makes an adorable cake!

I like that cake Kavingate, it's really well done! Yeah, the idea is really funny... especially since it's red velvet... but you did a great job!

If you see your cake on cakewrecks you can email the blog owner and ask her to take it down. She says somewhere on there that she's not doing the blog to humiliate people (Uhhhh...okay) but just for humor in something about the cake. Like people have said, it's not necessarily that the cake was poorly done, it just might be a weird subject or something strange written on it or whatever. She'll take pictures down if requested, as far as I know.
